If The fear of the Lord is the beginning of Wisdom, then thankfulness is the next step. 

Awe opens and gratitude actively receives. 

Thankfulness does not just stop with a gift received, but is a virtue one with faith, a spirit of active grateful reception of goodness. 

A continuing thirsting and grateful yearning for the Good.  A thirsting for the one who is perfect goodness.
