Baptism and the Eucharist are two central Sacraments of the Christian Church.
In both these Sacraments there is a clear portrayal of the unified nature of reality as God sees it, and which is now freely offered to humanity. In these Sacraments, God's Word of peace is entrusted to redeemed humanity. As it is spoken out, bread, wine, and water cease to belong to the 'material' as opposed to the 'spiritual' world.
Christ's stark Word of the Eucharist - This is my body - is not 'this represents my body'. There is no dualism here.
Many of the church traditions which have sprung up since the dominance of the rationalist mindset in the West in the last several hundred years, have lost this vital link, and are dominated by dualism. This dualistic perception serves not only to prevent an understanding of a unified reality sourced in and now reconciled by Christ, but also to place humanity in a material world seperated from a spiritual God.
