Who are we and what is tennis like in
suburban Melbourne?
Would you like to know a bit about our coaching?
Local Interest only, one presumes.
I also run a page for Sacred Heart, Kew. (And I'm a member at St John's Catholic club, Heidelberg.)
Tennis Victoria is offering to host web pages for tennis clubs.
Some stereo pictures.
I have a stereo camera, which I use occasionally. I have printed red-green versions of my last lot, so if you have a pair of red-green glasses lying around, you can browse through them here. Nothing to do with the tennis club, but I thought I'd throw them in! The ones on the last pages are quite big files, but I thought I would try them, and they uploaded!
We are starting a new tennis financial year. The Saturday Heidelberg District team is halfway through a season, but the night tennis season and the juniors are just beginning the Spring season.
In the night tennis, one team made the finals:

This was taken at the semifinal, but they got no further Ellie, Justine, David, Michael and Janie. We were one game up when I left, but lost by a few games at the end.

Our junior girls team in their second last match for the season, and for the club! These, with Rebecca, are the only girls playing for the club, and we cannot manage a girls' team for next season, so they are saying goodbye.
The boys' section 5 team missed the finals by one point! That was all that separated the teams in fourth, fifth and sixth places! Well, and percentage. But a close miss.

David Majerczak, Ben Armfield, Marko Bogeski, Carlo Kassen and Jack Lewis. Adam Papstathopoulos was out on the day. Marko has joined Nick Bell in Section 1 with Clifton for the current season. The rest of the team are playing under St John's banner, at the St James courts.

Section 19, who missed the finals, but are, like the girls' team, in selfdestruct mode, with players unavailable for next season. Winfield Fu, Anthony Vaina, Daniel Schuller and Joseph di Napali. A couple are still playing on with St John's.

And the Section 22 team, who also didn't make the finals. Trevor Du, Henry Ranogajec, Zach Green and Aiden Tai-Jones. But they are still playing with us next season! St Johns are using our courts next season, and presumably hiring St James instead of us. But as they have fifteen teams next season (including many of our exes) there should be a lot of opportunity for our members who have missed out to get a game.
Recently the Saturday team played. Michael filled in, his first daytime match in some years! Ann, Mary and Leon on the right. They are only halfway through the season. Michael was replacing Kerry Carroll for the day.
The Restrictions....
Stage 3a is still currently running. Somewhat to our surprise, we can still water half our courts. We have removed the nets from one, which is in very poor condition (sunk), and taken the hose away. You can water courts 1 and 2 before each set, but not after! We should not have to water as often though.
It is good for the courts to be played on and watered in these times. I am a member of three clubs, and our courts are seriously worse than the other two, because they are not being used.
Members.
Numbers have increased a bit, but a lot of those playing are not members! But as we have declined from ten teams in the juniors a few seasons ago, to one next season, numbers are not looking good! In fact, as I write we have Nick Bell and the Coles family, Monique and Francoise, and our trusty band of life members! With luck this will improve as the night season starts!
It was pointed out to me that someone may want to ring someone to make contact!
