The tour I joined was part of a longer one, which had been to Yosemite, Bryce, Zion, etc. 16 passengers left at Denver, and 19, including me, joined.

I did not see much of Denver, being without a car. The Doubletree Hotel was far from anything, although a large shopping plaza was being built across the road. I did take a bus ride to another shopping plaza.

We set off, and stopped for a break at Vail, a skiing resort.

Our first real stop was at The Arches National Park, which was a highlight of the trip for me. It is an area where a lot of rock formations have been worn away by wind and weather, and we could get out and touch them.

Next we went to Mesa Verde.
