On a pu'u

I carried only my little Dimage camera, and the battery went flat before we finished, but here are a few views.

The pu'u is an isolated cone which has had another flow of lava run around it. So it may be very old, but the lava around it only a few hundred years or less. The lava flow is from Mauna Loa.

On top. The white in the background is rain, hiding Mauna Kea.

Still on top. The black is the lava flow, with roads through it.

Walking down. This would have been the area where the lava flowed from this cone long ago.
