HFV President Resigns

It is with regret that we accept Omar Sali's resignation as president of the Handball Federation Victoria. Omar has been an excellent president over the past few months, and we thank him for all his efforts. Omar's job commitments (yes, there is a life outside of handball…) will no longer allow him to carry on the position as HFV president. I believe a replacement has yet to be found / voted in. Ad interim, the current vice president will take over Omar's responsibilities.

Upcoming 1999 State Cup

There will be no handball during July, but all the teams will have to be ready for an August 1 start to the 1999 Cup season. The cup will run through to early November, totaling 14 weeks. The modus will be the same as for the League premiership, with the exception of (knockout) finals at the end.

Upcoming Junior National Titles - U21's

The Under 21 Junior National Titles will be held in Sydney this year. Doncaster will be represented well, with a number of our men & women in the running for selection into the state squad.

The championship will be played on the weekend of the 3rd & 4th July. The squad trains at Carlton every Saturday up until the championship at 4:30pm. Any junior under 21 is encouraged to go and compete for selection.

Womens National Team Tournament

There was an international womens tournament held in Melbourne, between 7th to the 13th June. Doncaster had three players in the national team. Matches were played at Caulfield Grammar & Monash University. Participating teams were the Australian National Team, Chinese-Taipei National Team, and FF&MI Seoul (Korean First Division Team).

Drugs In Sport

The Australian Sports Drug Agency (ASDA) may at any time request any player within 24 hours notice to undergo a drug test. If you are suffering from asthmatic condition you should reporte to the HFV, as some prescript or non-prescript medications are not permitted by the AOC or the ASC. If you are unsure about your medication contact the ASDA Hotline on 1800 020 506 or if preferred for confidentiality reasons call George Costas on 013 732 148. Refusing a drug test is an offence and carries a minimum two year suspension penalty

HFV Presentation Night

The annual Handball Federation Victoria presentation night will be held on July 10th at 7:30pm at the Rising Sun Hotel, Corner Raglan Street and Eastern Road, South Melbourne. Cost: $10 includes finger food, venue hire and trophies. Drinks are at bar prices. No doubt there will be some Doncaster men & women players up for awards
