Quizzes for all occasions

Over the years, I have spent about 12 years working on examinations, testing and other educational measurement things, and I now have a bank of 1900 questions in various areas, with extra questions and areas being added each week. I have also worked professionally as a trivia quiz writer for Reader's Digest.

I add a few extra questions each week, and you can find my handiwork on either OZTLNET or OZTEACHERS list, while my good friend Kerrie Smith hosts most of them in Hot Potatoes format.

Actually, if you Google my name and quiz, you never know what you will find -- at one stage, one was translated into Swiss german. Use one of those links to sample the wares. Recent works include St David's Day, St Patrick's Day, the Ides of March and Hans Christian Andersen's birthday, while ANZAC day and St George's Day have now been prepared. These typically appear in four-option multiple choice, generated by a spreadsheet system of my own devising, which makes it possible for me to produce alternative forms with the choices in a different order -- handy when cheating is a risk!

Copyright

As a rule, I try to make life easy for teachers. If you are uncertain about anything, e-mail me, and I will try to send you a prompt approval, but please read the next paragraph first.

I claim copyright over the questions, but I allow them to be used and shared for school and educational purposes, so long as no charge is imposed. If I give them away for free, I don't expect other people to sell them! That means that you can take questions from a number of the quizzes and use them for Trivia Nights, Web Quests and other purposes, but if you put them on the Web, I would appreciate a pointer back to this page. You may print them off and hand them out, again with a reference to this page, please.

Quizzes to order

I also do quizzes to order. You can ask for up to 100 questions, with answers, with two multiple-choice forms of the test and one free response version (same questions, same answers but in a different order to foil cheats), in a formatted Word document, along with answer sheets for the two mc formats and the free response form. You may specify easy, medium or hard (or any mix: difficulties range from 1, which most people would know, to 5, which are fairly challenging for clever adults, though almost all can be found on the Web), and you can choose categories if you wish, requesting either blocks of five questions or blocks of ten questions in each category.

You get all this for AUD$25.00 plus GST if you are in Australia -- if you are overseas, we need to dicker. Extra forms of the multiple choice quiz are $5.00 each.

I am set up for Paypal, but payment by cheque is preferred.

If you wish to commission a test which is exclusively yours until a certain date, that will cost somewhat more, because I will need to withdraw those questions from the bank: talk to me and we will work something out, which will reflect your needs.

Invoicing: I work on trust. You tell me what you want and when you want it, I send you two attached Word files, one being the tax invoice, the other being all of the quiz formats you have requested. I then hope you will pay me.

Categories

The list below shows the main current categories that are available, if you wish to specify particular topics. I try now to have a minimum of twelve questions in a category. My aim is to write at least thirty in each area, and there is always a range of difficulty.

It was created by Peter Macinnis -- macinnis@ozemail.com.au, but understand that this address does not work as you see it here: you have to put my first name at the start (spammers' robots just harvest the address that bounces, people can work it out, if they stop and think). No spaces, no underscores, just add the extra five letters. Got it?
