I was at work the other Sunday morning and while I was walking around talking and praising God the thought of the early Christian breaking bread together came to mind.
The only time we modern day Christians break bread is on Sunday at church. Yet when I read scripture the early Christians broke bread when ever they met.
Acts 2:42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.
Acts 2:46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,
The only time I see Sunday mentioned is Acts 20:7 And upon the first [day] of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread,.
I felt maybe we should break bread together more often as we met as Christians. For are we not the Church. Be it prayer meeting, home group, women’s meeting. This is taken in rememberance of Lord Jesus Christ who suffered death on the cross for our sins.
I Corinthians 11:24 And when he had given thanks, he brake [it], and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.
I Corinthians 11:26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.
Those scriptures say it all.
