This mpeg, made up of 163 CCD frames, represents 3 1/2 hours motion of the Near-Earth Asteroid 433 Eros, the next target for the Near-Earth Asteroid Rendevous mission. The background becomes quite bright in the final few frames due to increasing twilight.
433 Eros was easily visible in a 25cm telescope at magnitude 12, and was moving at about 110 arc seconds per hour during the period of this time-lapse sequence. The asteroid is a little under 40km diameter and was at a distance of 95million km.
