Longer Comedies
"A WIND IN HEAVEN" - comedy; teenagers; four acts, 80 mins.; 4m., 4f.; single set with 3 acting areas.
A cosmic fantasy. Two novice cherubs and two novice demons return briefly to earth where they set about tempting and saving poor humans. But their paths cross and there is chaos as the end of the world approaches. A play of terrific fun.
" THE GIGGLE-HO" - comedy; teenagers; one act, 45 mins.; 6m., 3f.; single, simple set.
One of my favourite plays. Shaun feels he is all grown up and the teenage party he is attending is somewhat beneath him - until the gorgeous Silva and her motorbike gang crash the party.
"THE BETTER BODY" - comedy; teenagers; six scenes within one act, 60mins.; 4m., 17f.; singe, simple set.
Subtitled: " A Guide for Teenagers Discovering Themselves". Set in a schoolyard, some girls are absorbed in a guide for making themselves more beautiful, much to the disgust of the boys. Each of the girls strives to "measure up" with hilarious results.
"THE LAST DRAGON IN THE WORLD" - comedy; teenagers; four acts, 85 mins.; 6m., 9f.; 3 sets.

In the fantastic world of Castle Edgecrumble, King Hubert and Queen Fannabel preside over a decaying kingdom where their daughters are too ugly to wed, the knights are too cowardly to fight and the neighbouring kingdom is invading. It is the last straw when a dragon threatens the castle - until he is befriended by a young squire. This is a very popular and delightful play. |
"MAXWELL: THE LIFE AND DEATH OF A SERIAL KILLER" - black comedy; teenagers; 7 scenes, 45 mins.; 11m., 6f.; seven simple sets using one lot of furniture.
Maxwell, 14 years old, is alienated from his family, school, peer group and society. He sets out to punish his enemies with his little silver hammer, using as his model his TV hero, the Righteous Warrior. This play is very modern and "on the edge".
"THE PERFECT FOOLS" - comedy; teenagers; four acts, 80 mins; 3m., 4f.; 3 sets.
Igor is a nerd, Mardy is a dag. They set out to change their images, because Igor wants to win the classiest girl around and Mardy is mad for Mick, the football hero, a hunk of little brain. The architect of their plans is Brad, a professional loser, who specialises in making everyone feel good about themselves. The result is a mess of splendid chaos.
