Weekly results and Premiership Tables from the Broomball Association of South Australia. We have been playing Broomball in Adelaide, South Australia since June 1982.
Broomball started in Adelaide at the old Payneham Ice Rink in mid 1982. We originally started with just the two teams, basically as a drop in league (Bruisers & Raiders). 1983 saw the first National Championship held in Canberra, Adelaide and Canberra were the only competing states, it was won that year by Canberra (and boy was the ice wet). In 1984 we moved to 4 teams, with the addition of the Slashers & Destroyers. In 1987 we moved at the closure of the Payneham rink to our present location at the Mt Thebarton Ice Arena. March 1988 was the year that we sent the first Australian team overseas, to Canada, for 21 matches in 27 days, 7 players from Adelaide attended. Later that year we expanded to 6 teams, with the addition of the Vipers and the Hackers. In 1991 we sent a team to the 1st World Broomball Championships in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, some 15 players from Adelaide represented Australia.

1995 saw 2 members from Adelaide attend the Broomball Mania VIII, held in the USA. Followed up by a further three representitives (and only Australians) to the 2nd World broomball Tournament in in Victoria, British Columbia in 1996.

Adelaide was the host of the 1998 Australian Broomball Championships which will be held in from June 5th - 8th. This event was unfortunately won by the ACT in both the Men's and Coed divisions.

The 1998 World Broomball Tournament (III) held in Bolzano Italy, was attended by 3 more members from Adelaide (again the only Australians) joining a Coed team with members from many other parts of the world.

We play Broomball each Tuesday night at the Mt Thebarton Snow & Ice Arena from 8.30pm - 11pm during Winter and from 7.15pm - 10.00pm during Summer. Give us a call and we can put you on a team, or just come out and watch, everyone is welcome.

We currently do not have a junior program, but we do have a minimum age of 14 years (parental permission required). No skating skill is required and Female and Male players are welcome.
