Background
The work of Kim Evans is an exploration into the possibilities of forms that are taken from a number of both natural and artificial surfaces. With her imagination she finds the contours and suggestions of mystical and enchanting creatures from a separate surreal reality that Kim certainly has tuned into. What is developed from this process are beautiful compositions that are both alive and still as the forms resemble stone carvings or even architectural structures that closely suggest the magnificent temples of 'Hindu' India. As she develops each new work there is a journey taken further and further, and as prolific as she is, she reaches a level directly connected to the subconscious and the archetypal realms of the mind.

Kim Evans is an important figure on the contemporary art scene.
It was in Austria where we first met and she studied the secrets of the old masters’ methods of painting with me. She has since acquired her own masterly skills in this approach, simply adding that knowledge to a wide range of methods and materials that she had already brought to the table. Indeed, her own visual language was already highly developed at this point. Her work is ancient and modern; synthetic and natural; mystical and human, unveiling a timeless language… as it transcends but includes all that has come before. Her images allow one to think without making oppressively literal references, so that viewers are free to identify with the work.

I have referred to Kim as the Queen of the Visionary Tribe –Down Under, as she offers us a noble way to explore and come to an understanding of the inner life and spirit of humankind.

After all, she is in full agreement with the wisdom of Hegel, who said: “Art is a source of original knowledge.” Kim’s fantastic works commingle into an archetypal river of flowing feminine forms revealing the invisible behind the visible, eternal energy behind matter – the daughter of the infinite, the son of the eternal. It is where the past and present merge through an intuitive eye on the future in a constant exchange and perpetual transformation of organic forms gestating from the collective building blocks of the unconscious to the visual, emotional-mental and refined spiritual states available, and back again. She opens herself to become an instrument, a looking glass that becomes a see-through lens for the human experience, a consciousness cartographer.
What is expressed is truly an art of the soul.

There are so many great artists in the world, but greatness, in my book, is not measured by skill or imagination alone. We need only to become personally acquainted with Kim Evans to understand what it means to possess a great talent that is balanced and tempered by a heart full of compassion, sincerity and generosity; a mind that is incisive and sensitive and a soul that is humble and beautiful…For those who have not had the honor of meeting this rare artist, they are fortunate to have the pleasure of seeing her works of art.

Kim probes her soul for personal symbols and stories, and breaths life into fantastical imagery that her minds eye sees in the patterns before her. The final image is brilliant in it's technique and stirs in the viewer a wondering of what they are looking at - is it a dream, a fantasy, a vision? One can not look at one of Kim's works for a brief second, they require a long drinking in of all of the layers. And once you have drunk in the power of Kim's work, they stay with you, hauntingly, until they draw you in again, lulling you to take yet another look. And when you do, yet more is reveled. You must come back again and again, to see more. Her work is alive and grows richer and more dense with each viewing. Such alluring artworks are a rarity in the art world today and I am a better person, and artist, for knowing an artist of such rare talent.

Kim Evans is truly one of the great visionary artists of the 21st century. And one who will be included in the annuals of art history for future generations to ponder and learn volumes from. I know my great grandchildren will visit her works in the museums of the future and will be proud that they are, even minutely, connected to her through their Great Grandmother. And hopefully, they will be inspired by Kim's work, as I am today.

Kim has been my introduction to the artworld. Having no artistic flair myself, I am constantly amazed that such weird and wonderful, strange and yet capivatingly beautiful workings can flow through the hands of one person.

What an imagination!

The works themselves simply grab your mind and keep it captivated as you discover more and more detail within what, at first, appears to be one design, but actually consists of what may be many inspirations.

Kim creates pictures within pictures, layers upon layers, all waiting to be discovered, until you suddenly realise that much time has passed you by, while you were lost within her work.

The art of Kim Evans provides the viewer with intimate visions into her inner worlds that seductively appear out of patterns and layers embedded with personal meaning and symbolic archetypes.
Here, Beings speak with ancient voices and their wisdom is entwined with symbols that celebrate the goddess, nature, soul and our living essence. These symbols are known throughout history and arise out of the unconscious like a map to the soul. Her work celebrates what it is to be human with all our frailties, and these intuitive notations woven within beautifully detailed drawings and paintings, capture in time, intensely private experiences that we can all relate to.

I have been privileged to know Kim Evans as a fellow artist and friend for the past 20 years. As a passionately open and compassionate female warrior of the Surrealist and Visionary art movement, Kim has inspired many artists here in Australia and overseas, to create their truth. Kim is as her artwork, ie a beautiful complexity, mysterious and alluring.

Kim’s artwork has a beauty and a soul of its own which reminds us to view our life and the world we live in without boundaries.
Kim holds an important place in the “underground” art scene of Melbourne and she is well known amongst the Surrealist and Visionary art movements here as well as in America and Europe.
Her work should be a valued addition to any serious art collection.

Kim Evans is quite simply a professional artist capable of taking your breath away. Kim's likeable and positive nature produces interpersonal skills that are exceptional. She possesses a charming personable demeanor that earns an instant rapport and trust with everyone she deals with.

I believe Kim's inspired creative scope has generated a body of work that belies the capabilities of one person. Her working style of respecting timeframes with managed efficiency but remaining vigilant in attention to detail is an extremely rare and valuable combination, yet an essential trait of a true industry
professional.

I have worked in film and television production extensively in
Australia and Asia, as well as with many acclaimed British and American counterparts. I have witnessed many outstanding professionals in all forms of visual arts, and require no hesitation in acclaiming that Kim is nothing short of world class.

Kim Evans has my highest recommendation and my eternal endorsement.
