Welcome To Our Second Trip
ZIG-ZAG RAILWAY & GLOW WORM TUNNEL
Sunday 3rd August
The Kytherian 4WD Club has embarked on it's second sojourn to the
bush. At this time of the year it tends to be too cold to undertake an
extensive multiple day trip and so we have quickly put together a one
day trip to the Blue Mountains. This trip was instigated by the Emanuel
Varipatis Family who unfortunately at the last minute cannot attend, thank
you for instigating the trip and getting the wheels turning. This small trips
will wet our appetites so that we can once again organise a more
extensive trip when the weather warms up.
This trip will not involve any difficult 4WDriving however there are some
challenging stages which can be taken by our more adventurous
members. The trip will visit the Zig-Zag railway involving a 1 ½ hour
scenic steam train ride on the railway. The train departs from the
Clarence Train Station at 10.30 am sharp so be there in plenty of time to
get your tickets. Cost is $11 Adults, $5.50 Children, Under 5 no charge.
From the railway we will drive to a picnic spot for lunch. Please bring your
own lunch, coffee etc. as well as chairs & tables. Those wishing to do
some serious 4WDriving can do so on the way to this picnic spot. After
lunch we will drive to the Glow Worm Tunnel. There will be a small 1 km
walk through the tunnel which is pitch black so bring torches for each
person in your group. Inside the tunnel are thousands of glow worms. If
time permits we will visit the rock formations called "The Lost City" .
Again there is an alternative track if you want to do some 4WDriving.
We will visit "Blackfellows Hand Cave" which has Aboriginal hand
paintings. This involves a very short walk to the cave. From here we
head back to Lithgow on the Mudgee road and then back to Sydney.
MEETING PLACE IS CLARENCE TRAIN STATION AT 9.30 AM.
