May 1999

Greetings to all club members.

Your committee again, has been working hard at promoting the club and organising functions and future events. In addition to this there are also some members who are planning to run a trip or two for the club, and are currently trying out different areas for suitable trips. This is strongly encouraged for all members. Organising a trip can be very rewarding. If anyone wishes to organise a trip, any of your committee will be pleased to provide advice and assistance.

It was decided to impose an additional levy on non-members on club run trips.

Club Trip Reports:

Stockton Beach 27th March: Fishing and Camping trip to Stockton Beach, near Newcastle. Great fun attended by some 10 vehicles. Overnight camping on the Sand Dunes.

We had a great time tackling some of the softest sand in Australia.

Many tried their hand at fishing off the wreck, and collecting pipppies on the beach.

A fun time was certainly had by all, and we will definitely have to include many more trips like this in future plans.

Kosciusko, Easter Weekend: 5 cars, 15 people. 3 nights camping at Tom Groggin Camping area. Day trips to Davis High Plain/Davies Hut, and Geehi/Geehi walls. Plenty of fishing relaxing and site seeing

Planned Trips:

Hill End Trip, Bathurst. June 12-14, 1999 (Long Weekend)

90km north-west of Bathurst, (or 20km via 4WD) Hill End is a unique example of an 1870’s gold rush town. You can fossick for gold, join a tour of historic buildings and mines or explore for yourself. This tour is thoroughly enjoyed by children. Many school groups do this tour.

Central Australia Update

This is one event that is pnned for 3 weeks on 3rd July - 24th July. An unforgettable adventure through central Australia, to "Ularoo". Camerons Corner, Kings Canyon and many more sites along the way. An opportunity of a lifetime to travel with friends to see the greatest country in the world.

The time is getting closer and plans should start being made for our big trip. Your vehicles should be almost prepared and ready for pre-trip inspection by your own service agent.

Berry Recreational Camp (non-4WD) October 1999

Thanks to Irene Cassim we have secured a booking for this event and we will keep in touch as we get closer to the event. We can accommodate 90 to 100 people for this event and I believe we will be turning people away so get in early to secure your spot.

This is a non-4WD weekend, ALL are welcome.
