Your 4WD club sponsored the Kytherian Brotherhood Fathers Day Picnic on Sunday 13th September and thanks to all our members, their relatives & friends and members of the Kytherian Brotherhood, we had a terrific day with Mother Nature serving up a magnificent day for us. I would like to pass on a formal appreciation to the members of the 4WD Club committee for all their efforts and a particular mention to Angelo Andrew who’s efforts made the day the success that it was. As always everyone pitched in and helped on the day so thank you a to all.

Trip Reports:

Buckenderra Ski Trip 21st-23rd August 1998

A total of 12 vehicles with 49 people (23 Adults, 26 children) took part on this trip to Buckenderra Holiday Park at Lake Eucumbene in the Snowy Mountains.

Most people arrived about 5.30pm on Friday, with some arriving earlier and trying their hand at fishing. Despite promises of an early night, most people partied until the wee small hrs of the morning.

On Saturday morning the weather had changed and it was raining. As Mt Selwyn was going to be closed due to the weather, we travelled on to Perisher/Smiggins to go snow skiing. As the weather cleared, and after several dozen coffees, the kids were rushed out to the toboggan slopes for a most enjoyable and tiring experience.

The weather improved and the more experienced skiers took to the slopes. A couple of hours later, some of the kids tried their feet at skiing too. 4.30pm came, the kids were tired, so we packed up and headed for camp.

An early night was had by all, due to exhaustion on one part and a fear of repeating the previous nights revelry.

Sunday morning, weather clearing and dry. Some decided to return to the ski slopes, the rest packed up camp and headed for the trout farm.

The owners supplied fishing gear and bait and everyone went fishing but nothing, not even at the guarantee tank. Then along came John "Rex Hunt" Andrew with his own supply of fresh worms. 30minutes and 35 fish later, everyone had caught a fish. John donated the rest of his bait to other visitors. The fish were cleaned and put on the BBQ, and a very pleasant lunch was had by all.

We then packed and headed back to Sydney

It goes to show that regardless of the weather, friendship and companionship can make any situation enjoyable and memorable.

Fathers Day Picnic

The Kytherian Fathers Day picnic was held on Sunday September 13, at Mutch Park. This year the picnic was organised by the Kytherian 4WD & Recreation Club. To give the picnic a 4WD flavour, a tent was up and not only was there a tog-o-war games but there was also tug the 4WD.

Perfect weather encouraged an excellent turnout to the free sausage sizzle. There were cold drinks, ice creams and Greek coffee as well.

Just to repeat a point previously made, the managing committee would love to organise and lead regular trips however we too have other commitments and cannot organise & attend every trip. Therefor we need your support to recommend, organise and lead trips of your own with other club members invited to attend. The committee will assist you in organising, documenting and preparing for the trip. Please contribute where you can so that we can all benefit by enjoying regular and varied outings. Future management committee members will ultimately be drawn from current members so your involvement will also assure the continued existence of the club. Remember that club equipment and recovery gear is available to members for all club-sanctioned outings.

To help achieve this we have enclosed what we call "Pre-Trip Report" to be used by you to organize a trip.

Trip Tips

During some recent trips it appears many drivers have forgotten the basics of convoy procedures so these are summarised below. Please follow these procedures on all club trips to ensure all participants enjoy the outing.

CONVOY PROCEDURES

Please contact your committee members at any time. They are John Tzannes, John Faros, Peter Notaras, Angelo Andrews & peter Tzannes. Phone numbers on the attached membership list.
