John William Wilkinson

Little is known of John's life.
John William Wilkinson was born in Sydney to Mary North on 11 May 1871. His birth as registered was John William North. However, his birth details recorded in the Wilkinson Family Bible indicate that he was known as a Wilkinson.
He was known as Jack and worked in Cowra. It is possible, but not confirmed, that he married May J Durham at New Lambton in 1906.
I believe he died in Cowra on 14 October 1952 and there a John Wilkinson buried in Cowra Cemetery. As the photo came from among the family papers it is reasonable to assume he is from our family. The NSW BDM index lists the death in Cowra, NSW of a John Wilkinson, whose father was Charlie.

Elijah James WILKINSON (RIN: 402), son of Charles Augustus WILKINSON and Mary NORTH, was born October 01, 1873 in Goulburn, NSW. His birth record lists him as Elijah James North at Goulburn to Mary North.
His details are recorded in the Wilkinson Family Bible. Although raised as a Wilkinson, and listed in the family Bible, Elijah's birth record doesn't name a father.
He died March 24, 1961 in Lithgow, NSW.
He married Clara Beatrice Truman CLARKE who was born 1882 in Brewongle. Her parents were George Clarke (1848-c1939) and Elizabeth Chadwick (1852-1919).
Elijah married Clara on October 1, 1898, at Green Swamp Sunny Corner.
She died July 05, 1961 in Lithgow, NSW.

Elijah worked as a groom at the Lithgow Co-operative Society. He also worked as a coal miner at some stage, as it is listed on his son George's birth record. It is also possible that he had quite a good singing voice, as he is listed as singing at his niece Annie Wilkinson's wedding reception.

Elijah died in Lithgow in 1961

His wife Clara also died in 1961
(Death record 19192/1961 NSW BDM).
Both are buried in the Anglican portion of Lithgow Cemetery;
their tombstone is pictured at left.

Arthur Edward Humphries Wilkinson
Arthur Edward Humphries WILKINSON (RIN: 369), son of Charles Augustus WILKINSON and Mary NORTH , was born August 25,1878 in Bathurst, NSW. He married Annie Matilda STUMBLES in Woonona, NSW in 1901, the daughter of Henry Howard and Annie Matilda Stumbles. Arthur died in 1948 in Liverpool, NSW.
Annie Matilda STUMBLES (RIN: 247) was born 1877 in Wollongong. She died 1972 in Helensburgh, NSW. No other details of his life are known at this stage.

Ernest George Joseph WILKINSON (RIN: 380), son of Charles Augustus WILKINSON and Mary NORTH , was born July 24,1880 in Bathurst, NSW.
He married Louisa Kate BILLS in Woollahra in 1912.
He died September 23, 1918 in Lithgow, NSW. Louisa re-married in 1924 to Walter Power. She died in Belmore, NSW in 1973, aged 91 years.

Ernest, like many of the family was a coal miner.
He died of influenza on September 23 1918 leaving his wife to raise 4 young children.
Louisa, his wife tragically lost a baby son and her husband in two months.
