| 2 Pounder |
| THE 2 POUNDER (40mm) was the standard British anti-tank gun at the start of the war. It could penetrate 53mm armour at 400 yards. Large numbers were left behind at Dunkirk. Captured 2 pounders entered German service as the 4cm PaK 192(e). It was eventually superseded by the 6 pounder, however, it continued to remain in active service even though it was ineffective against an ever-growing number of German tanks. The inability to fire high explosive ammunition was a serious deficiency. |
