  The blue line
THE INNER defensive perimeter was called the blue line.  The construction of the blue line was ordered by Lavarack. He hoped to trap attackers between the red and the blue line and also to provide defence in depth.

Fourteen captured M11 Italian tanks were sunk into the ground to strengthen the blue line.

A third line, the green line, was supposed to be the last line of defence.
