Australian Infantry Battalion  |
| THE 2/43 was formed in South Australia, in the Adelaide Hills, some time in July 1940. It was originally part of the 8th Division. After initial training the battalion travelled to Melbourne where they embarked on the R.M.S. Mauretania for the long trip to the Middle East. They arrived in Palestine in February 1941. The main body of the battalion arrived in Tobruk on 26 March 1941. |
