ESTABLISHED in Kensington NSW in May 1040. The battalion left Sydney on the Queen Mary on 20 October 1940 bound for India. From there they were transferred on the Rohna to the Suez Canal.

Entered Tobruk on 9/10 April 1941.

Left Tobruk on HMS Encounter, HMS Kingston and HMS Griffin from 22-24 October 1941 for Alexandria.
