This list includes almost all of the galaxy's that:

a) are North of the Celestial Equator
b) are in the NGC or IC catalogues
c) are between Hubble Types Sbc(T=4) and Sdm(T=8) as listed in the RC3 catalogue
d) have recession velocities < 3,000 km/sec, measured  with respect to the 3K background
    listed in the RC3 catalogue.
e) are not HI gas depleted i.e with an uncorrected neutral hydrogen index < 2.9 (see RC3 catalogue)
f)  are not too near to the Milky Way, so that a search can be made out to a distance of 2 Mpc to
    look for companion galaxies.

The galaxies are belived to be poor producers of SN II/Ib/Ic for the following reasons:

CANDIDATES

1 = Projected Separation > 0.4 Mpc
2 = Infrared Luminosity < 1.26 x 1010 LO and Projected Separation < 0.25 Mpc
3 = Infrared Luminosity < 1.26 x 1010 LO and Projected Separation between 0.25 Mpc and 0.40 Mpc

POSSIBLE CANDIDATES

4 = Too near to the Milky Way to search for companions

NOTE: The Knight Survey could not have been compiled without the CBAT SN lists at:

             http://cfa-www.harvard.edu/iau/cbat.html

We would like to express our gratitude to the peolpe who maintain this important list.
