Corrocoat Engineering (Aust.) Pty. Ltd. Corrocoat was established in the United Kingdom in 1975. Corrocoat now has 38 branches in 20 countries around the world who are providing a comprehensive repair and maintenance solution for customers across the globe. Backed by years of research and development, the Corrocoat solution has evolved into a specialised engineering package comprising design, engineering, manufacture and testing of a range of products that are all structured to meet the demands of industry today. The Corrocoat Engineered solution is based on the application of high technology coatings systems which are coupled with the use of skilled engineering techniques backed up by advanced levels of technical expertise. Corrocoat Engineering (Australia) was established in 1983 and since that time has been involved in major engineering projects across Australia with contract values varying from $50,000 to $3 mil.
Corrocoat specialise in the following areas of Corrosion Mitigation.
- Analysis of difficult corrosion problems and implementation of supply and apply solutions.
- Pump case and impeller repair and re-engineering to original specification with the added protection of Corrocoat Coatings.
- Pipeline and Valve internal and external coatings. Wear Resistant and Flow Enhancement Coatings.
- Production tank linings for long term resistance to process liquors, solvents, petroleum products and corrosion attack from Sulphate Reducing Bacteria (SRB's).
- Manufacture and application of maintenance coating systems for plants with high corrosion and special maintenance problems.
Corrocoat Australia is actively involved in the following industries.
- Oil and Gas, Mining.
- Processing Industries.
- Utilities, water authorities, power generation, etc.
- Chemicals and Fertiliser Manufacture.
The performance of a Protective Coating requires.
- Mechanical and chemical attachment to the substrate.
- Chemical resistance of the cured product.
- Flexural Strength of the cured product.
- The resistance to environmental factors.
- Defect free application of the total system.
- Moisture permeation rate
Of these, the moisture permeation rate and the successful, defect free application of the liquid product to the substrate are of paramount importance to the long term performance of the coating system.
Moisture Vapour Transmission. (MVT)
The rate at which a protective coating or film allows moisture vapour to permeate the film and bring with it soluble salts that will initiate corrosion on the substrate dictates the practical life of a coating. The MVT resistance of a coating is of paramount importance in full immersion conditions.
Corrocoat have long researched ways of increasing the performance of resin systems that have naturally high MVT resistance levels to further increase the coating's life. This research has led to development of coating systems that balance thickness, flexibility, adhesion and ease of application to produce a MVT rate of such low effect as to be insignificant when compared to other manufacturer's and other generic coating types.
MVT rates of the following generic coatings can be expressed as follows:-
Coating Type
Permeability Polyester Resin
0.0154 Epoxy Resin
0.0153 Polyurethane
0.0147 Polyester Laminate
0.0078 Corrocoat Polyglass
0.0003
Defect free application of the total system:
The best coating system in the world cannot be expected to perform unless it is correctly applied, tested, repaired and commissioned prior to placing it in service.
Corrocoat Engineering (Australia) have been at the forefront in the delivery of an integrated Quality Assured site program that has seen our insistence on the use of independent project inspection personnel who have combined with Corrocoat to lead the way with site works and systems that have now stood the test of time. Many of the projects that have been undertaken by Corrocoat have now outperformed earlier coating systems by many times their original life.
The cost of independent site inspection is justified many times over when the potential cost of an unplanned shutdown and the subsequent loss of production and income is considered.
The Corrocoat Philosophy: Total flexibility is the key to the success of the Corrocoat service.
Our ability to respond quickly and effectively to our customer requirements is backed by the necessary technical resources to provide practical working solutions. This approach is matched by a total commitment to quality in terms of both our products and our workmanship.
Our research and development team is responsible for the introduction of some of the world's finest corrosion prevention and repair products. We are constantly stretching our expertise to develop new ways to combat corrosion.
The result of all of our work is the establishment of a highly skilled and professional service providing swift, convenient, reliable and economical solutions to maintenance related problems throughout the world.
