Doug McLeod’s career in broadcast comedy began in 1982 when he wrote and presented for Rave a weekly one hour current affairs and comedy program for ABC Radio. During his two years on the show he worked with Kim Gyngell whose Colin Carpenter character was a weekly feature. Doug also contributed to The Eleventh Hour, the show from which The Comedy Company grew.

Doug’s play My Son The Lawyer is Drowning was performed at the Victorian Arts Centre in 1987 when Doug was also heavily involved in the competitive improv game Theatresports where he teamed up with Glenn Robbins, Chris Keogh, Sioban Tuke and other Comedy Company members. In 1987 he also published Sister Madge’s Book of Nuns which took honours in the Australian Children’s Book of the Year Awards.

Following The Comedy Company Doug developed The Col’n Carpenter Show and Larger Than Life for Network Ten before joining Steve Vizards’ Artist Services company to work on Fast Forward, Full Frontal and Big Girl’s Blouse. Doug is now working on the Artist Services productions The Micallef Show and Seachange.
