John Thompson

History: Creating a television version of Let The Blood Run Free was a dream John Thomson had nurtured since the show began as an improvised soapie at Le Joke in Melbourne in 1985.

As Director and Co-writer of the stage show, and its sequels, Let The Blood Run Free 2, Blood Capsule and the award winning radio series, John's belief that show would translate to television has been well rewarded.

John graduated with a Diploma in Dramatic Arts at the Victoria College of the Arts in 1978,  followed by a Graduate Diploma in Film and Television at Swinburne Institute in 1983, (his short film, "Tennis Elbow" won the Erwin Rado prize at the 1984 Melbourne Film Festival) and he has directed some of Australia's best known comic performers including Wendy Harmer and Richard Stubbs in cabaret and theatre shows.

He is also a highly successful writer whose series "The Girl From Tomorrow" has screened internationally.
