ABC CHILDRENS AID - UGANDA (ABC)
ICARE & ABC Children's Aid (ABC) working together in Child Sponsorship & Development Projects and Programs.
The vision of ABC Children's Aid is to assist vulnerable children and communities to access education, health care and livelihood.
The school year begins in February each year with the enrolment of many new children. It is vitally important that a sponsored child receives not only an education but an education of a high standard, enabling them to go into higher institutions of learning. In that way, the sponsor can feel satisfied that the money they have provided for the child has had maximum impact in his or her life. The children are also taught self-sufficiency skills which will, in the long run, allow the community to be self-sustaining and independent.
The annual donors Christmas Party held in the ABC school arena at the end of each year is a festive occasion which is enjoyed by all the children, teachers, parents, guardians and well-wishers. The children look forward to this special day with great anticipation because they love to participate in the various activities planned for that day - creative dances, poetry, song, plays and various other activities in the presence of the parents, community and special guests. For those few hours they forget the problems, sickness and other hardships they face each and every day.
Their mission sets out to mobilise and enlighten vulnerable and disadvantaged communities by providing quality education, community bases health care, innovative farming techniques, establishing projects and relief assistance to the needy with the aim of providing a better future, minimising poverty and fighting ignorance.
