ICARE & Haligi Bata Inc (HBI) working together in Child Sponsorship & Community Development Projects and Programs.
Amidst the difficulties, as a result of the global financial crisis and worldwide recession, there are glimpses of hope for our poor children and families. With our continued support, HBI has been able to ensure that children continue their studies by providing their educational needs and at the same time empowering their parents to earn more through livelihood income generation projects.
The direct educational benefits the sponsored children received during the year were school uniforms, school bag and supplies, some children also received assistance for project fees. In Manila, the children received individual dictionaries to widen their vocabulary and knowledge. In Sudipen, textbooks, workbooks and reference materials were provided to improve the learning capacities of the students.
The children and community residents of our Child Sponsorship schools in Sudipen benefitted from annual medical check-ups and free medicines. The children were provided with health kits which consisted of : bath and face towels, toothbrush and toothpaste that are essential items to maintain their good grooming and personal hygiene.
The Water Filtration Project continues to provide the daily needs for clean and potable water to the pupils, school teachers and the community residents. This helps maintain the cleanliness, health and sanitation of the school and even the community.
