ICARE & Robin's Nest Children's Home (RNCH) working together in Child Sponsorship & Community Development Projects and Programs.
Robin's Nest managed to finally secure 3 beautiful acres of land and plan to build five homes on this land. School packs which contained exercise books, pens, coloured pencils, rulers, erasers, sharpeners, toothbrushes, toothpaste, lollypops, balloons etc were provided to the children. New tables and chairs and a blackboard was given to the most needy classroom.
A nurse and nutritionist came from one of the smaller hospitals to test the children for AIDS and to teach the house parents how to provide better nutritional meals for the children. Thankfully, all the children were given the 'all clear' for AIDS which was a great relief to all.
ICARE & Tumaini Miles of Smiles (TMSC) working together in Child Sponsorship & Community Development Projects and Programs.
Tumaini was established to provide hope for the most underprivileged, deprived and vulnerable people in the local rural areas, by rescuing them from poverty and by providing help for orphans. Many people in the area are subsistence farmers, many have no income, and those working earn very small amounts, with no hope of breaking this cycle of poverty.
TMSC runs a school and an orphanage, has a feeding program for 140 children, runs AIDS awareness programs, vocational training & literacy classes. They are in the process of building a new orphanage and enlarging the school. Their vision is to introduce technical subjects for the older children and local adults, teaching skills which will help them gain employment and become self-sufficient.
