FANNY'S NIGHT CLUB NEWCASTLE

JEBEDIAH : MAGIC DIRT: SLEEPY JACKSON: Review by Robert Bruce

Fanny's played host to a really cool show head lined by Perth based band JEBEDIAH for their only Central Coast show on their home sweet home tour with very special guests MAGIC DIRT plus SLEEPY JACKSON who opened the show.

THE SLEEPY JACKSON: A three piece band that were original enough, some of their stuff was very heavy and punchy indeed, though I found it a bit hard to understand anything the singer sang. I did speak to him after the gig and he can be understood. Keep an eye out for these guy's, I liked them!

MAGIC DIRT: Man, where has this band been and were do they come from! As they took the stage I was thinking mmm... a girl singer and she plays, and play she did. Man she is sick & she goes off. The band have an excellent sound & are an exciting band to watch because they all showed as much energy as did their songs.

They soon had the floor full and moshing, with their relentlessly driving riffs, fully topped by this chick up front that looked like she had entered another dimension. This band is a must to see, if you are a mosher a heart. Magic Dirt will be at Sydney's Domain on December 9th.

JEBEDIAH: This is the first time I've seen Jeb live, well they had no trouble living up to there TV and radio performances, being their fourth gig on the East coast they looked like they had been on the road for ten weeks, a look that suits this band and their music.

With there semi punk grungie sing along style they are fast becoming one of the most popular bands played on JJJ. It's hard to review this show - it was faultless. They are a great band to watch with each member giving off their own charisma through their energy on stage.

They played all there JJJ songs and some I haven't heard, to which the crowd sang along, moshed slammed, dived, threw up, passed out - but over all just got off.

This is the only gig they are doing on the Central Coast, though they are at Home Bake in December. If you would like them back just look on there web site and tell them, www.jebediah.net or www.whammo.com.au

We all had a great time. Thanks to Jay and all his staff at FANNY'S also security that has brains as well as muscles.

Keep your eye's open for future gig's at Fanny's, a great club .
