A Brief History
Jim Williams began making guitars in 1977 after attending the School of the Guitar Research & Design Center in Vermont, USA.
Upon his return he established a workshop specialing in the repair, restoration and construction of guitars. In 1981 he established a guitar making school that operated until 1983. Following this he wrote A Guitar Maker's Manual which is still published by the Hal Leonard Publishing Corp.in the USA. In addition he has contributed articles to American Luthierie, Frets ,Sonics and Jamm magazines.
The Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences in Sydney has purchased one his guitars for its permanent collection.
The wealth of experience gained from repairing and restoring guitars by C.F.Martin, Taylor,Gibson, Ramirez, Smallman etc blended with his distinctive style produces guitars in which both tradition and innovation are evident. Also evident is the attention to detail suggested by the photographs on this site.
No sound reproduction process can capture the sound and feel of a Jim Williams guitar so we invite you to:
