Kongwa School 1948-1958

Opened initially for the children of staff working for the Overseas Food Corporation "Ground Nut Scheme",
it had by January 1950, become a day and boarding school for students from all regions of Tanganyika.
In 1953 the old Head Quater Buildings of the OFC became the Senior Scool.
Student numbers were increasing and by 1955 the school was occupying most of the buildings in Kongwa.
Mnyakongo Primary School which now occupies the site, was built on the foundations of the two original buildings.
