Hello all,
Well as you will no doubt know the Harry Potter 7 book, (the last of the series), was launched and as I said in the last blog, I performed at the Melbourne Launch. It was a foggy morning with my cars temperature gauge reading only one degree when I got in it at 5:00am in the morning to make my way to Federation Square and dress up as a wizard on a stick.
In the background you can see the Flinders Street Train Station and not much else through the thick fog. It was a shock to the system having only just arrived back from an American summer two days prior to the gig but it all went well and was a lot of fun.

There were a lot of fans that braved the morning chill to be the first to secure a copy of the infamous book. It is great to see so much interest in reading, not that I got a copy of the book……WHERE’S MY AGENT!

I decided we needed to get away from this cold quick smart and kick our heals up on a holiday so Michael and I got on a plane and headed up far north Queensland to Turtle Cove.

Relaxing by the pool.

To get there we flew Qantas from Melbourne to Brisbane and then on to Cairns, about 4 hours flying time. We were then picked up by bus and travelled the next 45mins to our destination.

Of course, if you can afford the luxury, you can always just charter a helicopter.

This one landed on the private beach at Turtle Cove after some friends went on a snorkelling trip at the Great Barrier Reef. The beach here is stunning and totally secluded. We spent a lot of time sun baking and playing in the ocean.

Here is the view from our balcony.

We got up early on the last day to watch the sun rise and it was beautiful and well worth it.

It was a great holiday and we met some really nice people from all over the world who come here on holiday. Sadly it was too short and is all but a fond memory.

Back home now and this Sunday, 12th of August, I will be performing at Artbeat 2007: Family Fun Day! in Melton, Victoria. For those who live close by you can see me perform a show called "Swoon" by Strange Fruit . It is only 40mins drive from the Melbourne CBD. The venue is on the Lawns at the Civic Centre, 232 High Street, Melton (mel ref 377 B8) at 12:45pm and 2:45pm and it's free. Hope we don't get washed out, weather reports are not looking good at this stage.
I also have another gig on Thursday, 30th of August with Strange Fruit for the National Greyhound Championships at Sandown Park. The address is Lightwood Rd, Springvale at 7:30pm and 8:30pm.
Other than that I am back working at the Melbourne Museum doing some shifts as a Customer Service Officer and don't have anything planned for September but heading off to Mexico and Beijing in October / November. Isn't life grand!
Let me know what adventures you've gotten up to of late?
Much love,
George
