Qatar 2006 | George Filev

The Desert with the inland sea.

Hello lovely people. Well I am in the full swing of rehearsals now and it is a lot of fun.

When I am not hanging around I am by the pool and or going on a desert trip to the inland sea !!!!! Well that's what I did on my day off.

The way it works is you get picked up in 4 wheel drives and travel out to the sand dunes.

This is the main guy that organised the 12 cars and we convoyed out into the desert. We drove for about 2 hours and up and over the sand dunes.

Got to see some guys on horses.

Here you can see the inland sea behind me. It is actually in Saudi Arabia, not Qatar. Took us 4 hours to get to it.

The drivers liked to scare us by driving really close to the edge of the sand dune and ride the ridge at the top, then go straight down them with speed.

We ended up stopping and watching some demonstration driving and it was really exciting.

Some of the sand dunes were 50 meters high.

We drove to a nice spot and watched the sun set.

Then we got to a beautiful spot on the inland sea and swam, rode camels, did some sand boarding and played volleyball against the Arabs.

This is the top of the hill, looking down on the camp, where I got to slide down on a sand board. While swimming in the inland sea I noticed some phosphorescence in the water so when you moved your hands or clapped them under water the algae in the water lit up and glowed in the moonlight. It was amazing.

We got to stay in some cool Bedouin tents and drink tea and eat a traditional meal before heading home.

Had a great day and slept like a baby that sleeps really well.

Looking forward to more great adventures in the coming weeks.

See ya,

Georgie boy
