1982-83 - Formula Marine is born
FMR owner, Gary London Snr was a keen waterski racer in the early 80s with his family. In 1982 he attempted and broke the world record towing 8 backward bare footers behind a 200hp Mariner outboard. His passion for waterski racing made him realise that there was a need for a specialist performance boat shop in the Northwest region of Sydney, Australia.

In 1983 he started Formula Marine in the Sydney suburb of Castle Hill, selling Mariner outboard's and using his knowledge to set up and race tune waterski racing outboard's. His son Tim joined the company as a young apprentice mechanic later that year. Many achievements came with numerous Bridge to Bridge waterski race wins. Their achievements were noted overseas, with Gary being asked to set up and race Offshore Powerboats in Dubai. Tim London became the new technical manager.

1990 - Formula Marine and Yamaha

In 1990 they started selling Yamaha outboard's and also looked for new challenges. Yamaha Australia had just released Waverunners, but were having difficulties finding appropriate ways to promote these new craft in Australia. Yamaha approached Formula Marine as one of Australia's high profile performance dealers and asked if they could promote these craft.

1991 - "Bridge to Bridge" race

In 1991 Formula Marine decided to enter a 650cc Waverunner 3 in the world's premier water ski race, the 110km long "Bridge to Bridge". The race is the longest one way ski race in the world, and involves the towing towing of two 2 waterskiers. Gary & Tim put their knowledge of race outboard’s into gear. They finished the race in style much to the amazement of many other racers and became the first people in the world to tow two waterskiers in the race behind a personal watercraft (PWC). Their sales and service on PWCs boomed, so they decided to concentrate on this market and leave the boats behind. Yamaha Australia’s profile for PWCs also elevated at this time.

1994 - NZ National Championships

The Formula Marine team continued to build performance watercraft. In 1994 Sea-Doo launched a dominant attack on the now multibrand PWC racing circuit with Runabout racing and sales attracting plenty of attention. Formula Marine took a big gamble considered by most industry pundits and entered a Yamaha 701 Waveraider in a closed course circuit race in the New Zealand National Championships. They won the Pro 785 Title and in doing so become the first ever Yamaha to Win a National Championship race.

1995 - Formula Marine and Polaris

In 1995, after seeing what Formula Marine had achieved in the PWC industry with Yamaha, they where approached by the Australian Polaris distributor to see if they could help with their struggling image of Polaris Watercraft. Always looking for a new challenge, Formula Marine began selling Polaris PWCs and All Terrain Vehicles (ATVs).

The race circuit was well established in 1995, but the Formula Marine boys took on the challenge to be the only Polaris to race the circuit against a plethora of Sea-Doo and Kawasaki watercraft. Despite their underdog status, Formula Marine won the 1995-96 AJSBA Pro Mod 785 National Tour, becoming the first Polaris watercraft in the world to win a National Tour. This certainly put Polaris on the map in Australia.

1996-97 - Tim and Gary Jnr in the USA

In 1996 Tim London’s technical skills were rewarded for the previous year. He was offered a place on the now formed Polaris Factory race team in the USA. Tim toured in the USA under head Technician Darren Hedlund to the historic Polaris wins in Pro 1200cc IJSBA World Title with Frank Romero.

In 1996 and 1997 Formula Marine also sent their own boat to the IJSBA World Finals to race in the Pro Mod 1200 class. This was a huge task as in Australia the sport is recreational and amateur. Against a field consisting of many full-time professional American riders, Gary London Jnr finished in the top 10 riders in the world both years. Something us Aussies are very proud of!

1999 - "Dargle to Windsor" race

By 1999, Enduro racing was starting to become popular. Formula Marine entered a Polaris SLTX in the "Dargle to Windsor" power boat race and won the PWC Outright Class in record time. Tim London returned to the USA for the 1999 World Finals to help Hot Seat prepare Christy Carlson’s Polaris Pro785. Christy won the Pro Woman’s World Championship.

2002 - Formula-Moto Racing is born

In 2002, Formula Marine decided to change their name to Formula-Moto Racing (FMR), to reflect the rapid growth of their ATVs market. FMR continues to offer their 20 years' experience in tuning PWCs, be it for recreation or race. FMR also offers great performance packages for Polaris ATVs. We are a distributor of aftermarket ATV and PWC parts, supplied all around Australiasia.

In 2006 Seeing the booming ATV market and our professional ATV sales credentials we are approached by new player in the ATV market "Pro Shark" and appointed Premium Dealer of the Only Australian Designed ATV on the market. FMR continues to grow it's Aftermarket  ATV & PWC business and excellent sales & service reputation. FMR also ended it's association with Polaris Australia as a Dealer, but continues to provide aftermarket service and accessories for all Polaris ATV & PWC.
