n the three volume Swiss Chronicle , Wernher Schodoler (1490-1541), describes the period between the foundation of Zurich, the early days of Lucerne and Einsiedeln up to the Battle of Sempach, the Naefels and Appenzeller War and the Council of Constance (1414-1418). Almost the whole of the second volume is devoted to the Old Zurich War and the third volume covers the war between Berne and Freiburg via the Burgundian Wars to the campaigns in Italy.
The originals are now kept in Ueberlingen, Aarau and Bremgarten. With this Fine Art Facsimile Edition, it is the first time that the complete work has been reunited, edited and published.
Volume 2 contains 132 pen and ink drawings and Volume 3 has 193. Although space was originally left for drawings in Volume 1, this layout has been dispensed with as it was never illustrated. The text of all three volumes which come to a total of 1,468 pages, approximately 290 x 410 mm in size, is edited and complemented with detailed contributions in a 410 page German commentary volume.
This Fine Art Facsimile Edition consists of 2 volumes bound in pigskin with lavishly embossed covers, clasps and fittings and is limited to 980 copies world-wide.
A documentation kit containing 4 sample pages, in the original size, from the Swiss Chronicle of Wernher Schodoler Fine Art Facsimile Volume, plus an illustrated, 12 page information brochure, is available for $US50.
