The DSOA was formed as an unincorporated association in 1982 after being in existence informally for over two years, and became incorporated in 1996. Membership numbers fluctuate around the 100 mark. In 2003 we had about 70 financial members. We have members in all states of Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Canada, Scotland, and Japan.

Membership of the DSOA is restricted exclusively to the owners of the FAIRLADY 1500 [SP-310], the 1600 SPORTS [SP-311], the NISSAN SILVIA [CSP-311], and the 2000 SPORTS [SR-311]. Earlier sports models, ie DC-3, SP-212 & SP-213 are also welcome.

The main aims of the DSOA are

• Promote the preservation and use of Datsun Sports Cars (Types SP, SR, CSP 1963-1971) and associated memorabilia
• Provide a forum for the exchange of technical information, literature and parts, so that Datsun Sports Cars can be preserved, restored, maintained and used in the best interests
• Schedule a number of meetings, static displays and social events for members and friends, in order to develop mutual interests, friendship and cooperation and club spirit between members
• Publish a regular newsletter to communicate forthcoming events, club news and items of interests
• Promote public awareness of Datsun Sports Cars

The Annual Subscription covers mailing of regular Newsletters - featuring Historical DATSUN SPORTS Magazine Articles, ROAD TESTS, TECHNICAL INFORMATION, general items of interest, new & secondhand parts availability and forthcoming events.

Organised DSOA activities during the year include STATIC DISPLAYS, DAY RUNS, THEATRE NIGHTS, SPORTING and limited MOTORSPORT COMPETITION, Nationals over the QUEEN'S BIRTHDAY Week-end plus informal get-togethers during the year.

Membership is limited strictly to the owners (or prospective) of "open top" Datsun Sports Cars manufactured up to 1970. For more information about these models see the model identification information elsewhere in this FAQ. These models are sometimes (incorrectly) referred to "Fairladys". For the Z-Cars there are other avenues.

To meet the requirements of the relevant Acts and our insurance company we need you to phone or write to us to join or download our application form and mail it off to our Postal Address.

There is no joining fee.

There are 4 models in the "Fairlady" range, the 1500, 1600, 2000, Silvia.

There are approx. 130 cars in DSOA.

Production numbers and import numbers are a guess as Nissan Japan and Nissan Australia didn't keep records
