WIN WINS

Testing conditions on Derwent yesterday for the inaugural 49er media challenge,  four boats contested a 3 race series with representatives from TTT FM, WIN TV and THE MERCURY.  TTT FM represented by Todd Campbell and Dave Noonan, WIN TV by Cameron Best and THE MERCURY by James Breshenan.

Cameron Bests past dinghy sailing experience shone through winning the regatta with two firsts and a second sailing INCAT with John McCullum and Richard Hughes as Crew, second was Dave Noonan onboard ROK with Stuart Hamilton and Paul Wyatt Crewing in the first race and then on DUCK CLOTHING with Jon and David Rees  for the second and third races, third was James Breshenan on PETER JOHNSTON SHIPCHANDLERS, and fourth Todd Campbell on FADER MARINE with Richard Fader and Mathew Johnston.

Wind strengths varied from 22 to 10 knot Northerlies, making exciting close racing with many capsizes and close calls.  Further races in the media series are planned for early 1998.
