Here is the Horoscope of a man born at 11:15 pm on October 1, 1945, at Cronulla, NSW, Australia.




Something important occurred in the life of this man on 13 December 2010 when he was living in Sydney, Australia. Can you determine the event by astrological means? It was one of the following:

1. He retired from work.
2. He sold his house.
3. He died.
4. His father died.
5. His mother died.

Australia at the moment is suffering the catastrophe of unprecedented flooding from continuous deluges of rain. This has forced the evacuation of thousands of country dwellers over vast areas in Queensland while their homes are flooded out. Many have lost everything, including their personal belongings. It is anything but a happy New Year for them. We can only hope that the massive efforts of government and volunteer helpers will restore their happiness and prosperity during 2011.

ANSWER

The Dominant Feature could hardly be more obvious – the Sun in a close square to Pluto, both on Angles, from the House of Death to the House of Endings.
This must be a death, one of those given in the clues. But whose death? The native, his father or his mother? We decide this by inspecting the Rulers of the relevant Houses.
The father is the 4th House. Capricorn on the Cusp is ruled by Saturn which is not afflicted.
The mother is the 10th House. Cancer on the Cusp is ruled by the Moon which also is not afflicted.
The native is the 1st House. Libra on the Cusp is ruled by Venus which rules also the 8th House (death). Venus is afflicted by Mars. Hence it is the native himself who died.

Answers from Participants

Nineteen participants responded by email. Seven answers were correct. They are the following:

I think the man passed away.
The Angular square of Sun and Pluto led me to this conclusion.
Pluto in the 4th House signifying the end of the matter.
MC in the 8th.
Venus rules both the Asc and the 8th House thus uniting them.
Moon Ruler of the Equatorial Asc in the 12th House (hospitals and sorrow), forming a t-square with Neptune and POF in the 6th (illness) and Neptune is Ruler of the 6th House, again sickness.
Another almost exact Aspect is the trine between Mars and Uranus. Usually this Aspect signifies an operation or a sudden event.
Pluto in Capricorn 17 falls in his Natal 8th House. By Progression his Moon in 25 of Sagittarius forms a quincunx to his Saturn in Cancer - Saturn ruler of his Natal 8th House.

He died.
I used a triwheel with Natal/Solar Arc/Transits for Dec 13, 2010: Solar Arc Saturn, Ruler 8th (death) at the Aries Point (important event), conjunct the 4th Cusp also at the Aries Point (endings).
Solar-Arc Saturn squares his Equatorial Ascendant which stands for himself, Not Mom, Not Dad. Eq. Asc at Aries Point.
In addition, transiting Saturn, Ruler 8th House is conjunct SA-Pluto, significator of death, and Ruler 6th (health).
SA-Pluto, death, 6th, trines natal Uranus (sudden) in 1st, himself.
In his Vedic Chart, this date indicates that he is in a North Node/Saturn DASA Period. These are both malefic indicators, not too good for health. North Node is conjunct another malefic, Mars, in his 2nd House, a Maraka or killing House.
In his Demi-Lunar Return for Dec 11, 2010, Pluto exactly conjuncts the 4th Cusp (endings).
In his Age-Harmonic Chart, Sun squares Pluto, exactly on the IC.

The Age-Harmonic Chart indicates a death, and the emphasis on the Sun and the Ascendant indicate the native is the one who dies.
The most important feature is the Sun in partile square to Pluto, each being conjunct an Angle.
The Sun indicates the native and Pluto on the Cusp of the 4th House suggests death and the grave.
The man’s death is further indicated by the Ascendant (the native) forming a T-square with Sun and Pluto.
Venus, ruler of the Ascendant, forms a partile conjunction to South Node (misfortune, stroke of fate). It also rules the 8th House (death).
The tightest aspect is the trine between Mars and Uranus. This suggests a sudden or accidental death, especially as Uranus rules the 4th House.
Solar-Arc Directed Pluto forms an exact conjunction with the Ascendant at 16 Libra 09, another indication of the native’s death.

The native might have breathed his last on 13 December 2010.
The sub-period Lord was Saturn, general significator for longevity.
Natal Saturn and transit Saturn were both very weak and severely afflicted.
Natal Saturn was afflicted by transit 8th Lord and transit Saturn by natal 12th Lord.
The death could have resulted from health problems rather than sudden accident.

The dominant feature of the Chart is the Angular T-square of Pluto, the death planet, to Sun and Ascendant, signifying danger to life and separation by force majeure.
Sudden death shown by Mars in close (facilitating) trine to Uranus in the Sixth House of Health and ruling the Fifth House (the heart).

I had a hard deciding between death of Father and the Man in question.
The Harmonic Chart for December 13, 2010, clearly shows that the Sun conjunct the descendant and squares Pluto conjunct the 4th House cusp (endings)as the main aspect.
He died.
I further looked at the solar arcs in the natal chart to assist me in deciding which of the two men passed away.
Since Pluto is the Ruler of his natal sixth House, and Saturn the natal ruler of the 8th House.
The solar arcs of the natal chart confirmed my conclusion. Transiting Saturn opposed the harmonic Sun and conjuncted solar arc Pluto in the 4th House (endings).


Bill Flora (Oregon):
Using the Harmonic Chart for Dec 13, 2011, the Floating MC in the 8th House ruled by Venus brings the focus of the chart to death.
The native is also Venus-ruled.
Saturn-ruled Pluto squaring the Sun is conjunct the IC (endings).
Saturn occupies the native's 1st House (ruling out the death of a parent??) and the Sun Squaring Pluto is "setting" on the native's descendant.
Best guess--the native died.
