INSTALMENT 90
HISTORIC 24-HOURS
IN AUSTRALIAN POLITICS
An unprecedented chain of lightning-quick events from 23 June to 24 June 2010 has brought the downfall of Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd and his replacement by the former Deputy, Julia Gillard.
The drama started in the evening of the 23rd June when disaffected members of Rudd’s own (Labor) Party , seeing that the Government was headed for disaster if Rudd remained Leader, canvassed the possibility of having him replaced by his Deputy. The highly respected Julia Gillard is adjudged to have the capacity for wise modification of extreme policies as well as possessing all the qualities for good leadership. This plan was activated the following morning when the Leadership was formally challenged. In the result, seeing the numbers were unalterably against him, Rudd graciously stepped down without calling for a vote and Julia Gillard replaced him.
Thus within the 24 hours Julia Gillard became Australia’s
first female Prime Minister, while the Country was still reeling in surprise or shock, Kevin Rudd having been elected less than three years ago in a landslide victory beyond anything the Labor Part had previously recorded. While at the beginning of his term Rudd enjoyed enormous personal popularity and very high ratings, in the last five months from February 2010 his popularity declined to such an abysmal low that the political future of the Party was in extreme jeopardy and prompted the revolutionary proceedings of 24th June.
The general opinion of Party members is that the change is an excellent one, both for the Labor Party and for the Nation. Kevin Rudd had statesman-like ideas of reform and progress with which, however, he became almost obsessed and largely neglected selling his ideas to the public – a necessity where sections of the populace are aggrieved or suspicious of proposed changes.
This dramatic change to Rudd’s fortunes is depicted in his Harmonic Chart drawn from the rectified Radix I presented in November 2008 on my Website (Instalment 35). Here, first, is the Rectified Radix:
Kevin Rudd Natal Chart

Here is Rudd’s
Age Harmonic for 24 June 2010 (the day that ended his Leadership) derived from the above Radix:
Kevin Rudd AH 24 Jun 2010

The devastating combination of
Mars and Uranus conjunct the floating MC vividly depicts Rudd’s eclipse. But with typical generosity of spirit he has not withdrawn from the political scene. In an emotional farewell speech he declared his intention to serve the new Government in any way he could. His personal trauma is also apparent from the Aspect of the Midheaven Ruler
Venus square to Jupiter on the 12th Cusp – House of Sorrows and Self-Undoing.
The accession of Julia Gillard to the top job in Australia is a momentous occasion. We were treated to a photo on television of Australia’s
first female Prime Minister being sworn in by its first female Governor-General (Ms Quentin Bryce) in a ceremony at Government House. What a day for celebration! It marks the continuing progress of women to their just place in society after millenniums of oppression and deprivation. Australia is proud to be one of the leading nations in the continuing battle for the establishment of women as equal in all respects with men.
Julia Gillard was born in Barry, Glamorgan, Wales, UK, on 29 September 1961. We do not have a time of birth but with the aid of Age Harmonics I have arrived at a Horoscope timed for 6:02 am. The Harmonics of this Radix correlate satisfactorily with known events in Ms Gillard’s life.
Julia Gillard – Natal Chart

Julia’s appearance and demeanour are typical of her Rising Sign Virgo – compact build, small well-formed features, neat appearance, self-possession, quietly professional and unflappable. The Sun rising in Libra endows her with adaptability, a friendly and compassionate nature, impartiality and a scrupulous sense of honour. The Moon in Gemini trine to the Sun adds intellectual acumen, versatility, fluent expression, resourcefulness and love of freedom. Mercury conjunct Mars indicates a sharp, very alert mind. Jupiter conjunct Saturn shows maturity, responsibility, patience and perseverance in pursuing goals and the capacity to handle large structured organizations.
Julia Gillard - AH 24 June 2010

In her
Age Harmonic Chart (above) for the decisive event of
24 June 2010 Julia Gillard’s rise to power is immediately apparent from the position of the Sun right on the 10th Cusp (orb 0°10') in a strong trine to Pluto (planet of
Power) and the Vertex (
Destiny). Note also that the AH-Sun is closely conjunct Natal
Fortuna (orb 0°29') on the 9th Cusp of her Horoscope (favourable for politics and law). A further happy omen for the new Prime Minister is AH-Venus (19Ge32) conjunct Natal MC (20Ge44). On this very day also the Sun came to the sextile of Mercury (Midheaven Ruler) by converse
Solar-Arc Direction – a double emphasis on Career and Status.
What now of the future? Our new Prime Minister will call an Election before the year is out, giving the Nation the opportunity to endorse her as their elected representative to continue management of the National economy and its multifarious activities. The PM’s Harmonic Charts show one excellent time for the Election would be
Saturday, 4th September. See the Day Harmonic Chart below.
Julia Gillard - Harmonic Chart 4 Sep 2010

Factors favouring a positive result for Julia Gillard on this day are the conjunction of the Sun and Moon straddling the AH-MC, Venus and Mars trine the Floating-MC,
Fortuna on the Ascendant and Jupiter sextile the Sun and Pluto. Jupiter on the 12th Cusp square the Vertex on the 3rd and ruling the 4th House suggests mixed feelings from a destined house removal.
Also on 4th September, Mercury trines Natal Jupiter by converse Solar-Arc Direction. This is very favourable, particularly as Mercury rules both the Natal Ascendant and the Midheaven. Of course there are other dates for the Election but 4th Sep 2010 is the most propitious.
Assuming that the Labor Party will win and Julia Gillard be the elected Prime Minister, she will be confronting a complex situation with many problems to solve and careful choices to make. It will be appropriate to examine her planetary Progressions after the Election.
