Here is the Horoscope of a woman born in Sydney, Australia, on 4 January 1954 at 9:21 pm.





What important event occurred in her life in October 1992?

This exercise is open to every astrologer who wants to test or improve his skills. No registration is required.

To find the Answer use any astrological process or chart of your choice.

It is relatively simple to read the Answer from the Age Harmonic Chart which will be emailed to any astrologer who requests it.

What was extraordinary and providential was the fact that she did not receive any injuries at all. She wrote, “It could have been disastrous but I was spiritually protected and picked up out of it at the moment of impact and then put back, with not a bruise. Even the bean soup on the floor didn’t move”.




The Dominant Feature is the conjunction of the two most violent planets, Mars and Pluto, on the 3rd Cusp (Roads and Transport) – a violent crash on the roads. The quincunx to Uranus adds a third malefic, typical of accidents.

Perhaps it is possible but not to be expected that one can read Supernatural Intervention from the Chart.

Answers from Participants

Sixteen astrologers emailed a solution. I would count as correct any answer that included the key words “road accident” or others that imply the same thing, even if the answer was weakened by some qualification or the addition of an alternative. “Accident” alone is not enough. That could mean tripping on an obstacle, cutting one’s finger, breaking something, slipping on a banana skin, falling off a ladder, etc, etc.

The object of these “Test” exercises is to promote precision. As long ago as the 1930’s the eminent British Astrologer, Vivian Robson, urged his readers to cultivate precision. Unfortunately, today’s Astrology is for the most part just as woolly as it was 100 years ago. With our marvellous computer Programs we should be able to do better, and certainly should strive to do so. These Tests give you the opportunity to develop the skill without being subject to adverse criticism for being wrong (which is what induces astrologers to add alternatives). Adding alternatives and possibilities to a predicted event with the hope that one will be correct is like using a scatter gun and hoping that one of the bullets will find its mark. A more productive procedure is to concentrate the thinking on finding exactly what did happen. That is a way to increase your skill and develop Astrology at the same time.

Shirley Gray (Michigan USA) sent an answer which I accepted as correct even though it was wrongly qualified as “fatal”:

The violent combination of Mars and Pluto, the planet of Death and here of Endings, on the 3/9 axis of Travel and quincunx Uranus on the Death House Cusp, all on the same degree and on her Natal Neptune. Neptune, Ruler 8th, elevated at 10th of Destiny, square Ascendant (her physical vehicle).

Other respondents who were on the way but missed through adding alternatives or attributing violence to the wrong person were:

She was running Mars Maha dasa and Jupiter antara in October 1992 she suffered from serious health condition due to accident. Other possibility I see is mother's illness or lost job.

MDV (No location given):
The female in question appears to have had an accident or at least some unfortunate turn of events. In the Age Harmonic Chart, the closest Aspect is Mars conjunct Pluto, then Neptune on the highest Cusp of the Chart, 10th House.

Irene Knudsen (Germany):
I think that the woman lost her husband through an accident. Mars conjunct Pluto in a quincunx to Uranus on the 8th Cusp.
Harmonic Mars/Pluto in the 2nd House (8th of the 7th ) conjunct the native Neptune, Ruler of both 8th Houses.
On the other hand are Mars/Pluto on the 3rd Harmonic Cusp, the House of traffic and transport. The woman could have had an accident herself.

Looking at the AH Chart of October 4th 1992:
The closest Aspect is the conjunction between Mars and Pluto quincunx Uranus.
Solely looking at these factors, they indicate a sudden very violent event which could have resulted in her own death.
It could be she took her own life or was involved in a deadly (fire) accident, an explosion of a plane (Uranus).

Some participants overlooked the obvious effect of the Mars-Pluto conjunction on the 3rd Cusp and pursued inferences from House Rulerships. Others went astray by allotting the conjunction to the 2nd House instead of the 3rd. This is a common error that causes many mistakes in interpretation. Experience shows that the Cusps are not the boundaries of the Houses but the most potent points in the Houses, particularly so with Porphyry Cusps.There is no precise rule but a planet should be considered to be in the next House when it comes within five degrees of the Cusp. The closer the planet is to the Cusp the stronger is its influence in that House.

Be wary of including non-Ptolemaic Aspects and also of qualifying the answer. Just look for the obvious things: Believe me, a great many of these Tests can be answered correctly from the Dominant Feature of the Month Harmonic Chart and what its situation implies (without anything else).

The Signs are mostly of little use except that they show us what Houses are ruled by the Significators.

Supernatural manifestations such as that experienced by the native on 14 Oct 1992 may or may not be indicated in an astrological chart. However, in the present instance the Month Age Harmonic shows the Part of Fortune at 27Li53 right on the 3rd Cusp at 27Li40. The Sabian Symbol for this degree is interpreted by Lynda Hill as angels coming to the aid of a person and assistance when one is most in need of it.

What is more astrologically definite is Pluto in the above Harmonic Chart at 25Li43 almost exactly on Natal Neptune at 25Li55. These two planets, representing power and spiritual effects may be interpreted as a super-human manifestation. It is for the individual astrologer to decide whether to accept this.
