Here is the Horoscope of a woman born in Bergenop Zoom, Netherlands, ( 51N30, 004E17) on 8 Feb 1955 at 5:45 am.

Sidereal Lahiri Asc 6 Sg47; Moon 9Le35)

The native is a manager in an institute for vocational training. She was divorced, her parents are deceased and she has three children.

An important event occurred in her life on June 2, 2006.
Can you determine by astrological means which one it was of the following five events?

1. She had surgery for breast cancer.

Over the years, I have researched different astrological techniques for solving these exercises and have concluded that by far the best (also the quickest) is by using Age-Harmonics. It is unfortunate that the great majority of astrologers don’t have a computer Program with this facility. Possibly the expense of getting a Program like Solar Fire is a deterrent. If you are really keen on being highly proficient in the art of reading charts accept that an Age-Harmonics Program is worth a sacrifice of something else.

The great accuracy of this technique in delineating widely different events, still delights me.

Why do the Tests?
Aren’t they too limited to be of much help in general astrological practice?

Questions of this nature may easily arise. But the answer is they are a means to an end. If you become proficient in solving the Test Charts by Age-Harmonics (or any other astrological technique) you can apply this skill to all charts, whatever period they cover – a year, a month, a week, a day, or a life time. It will concentrate your thinking and reduce the time you need to spend on analysis.

What is most valuable is that by regularly working on the Tests one develops the habit and skill of finding the dominant factors in charts. This orients your thinking in the most productive direction and frees you from the confusing mass of unrelated Aspects that are prevalent in almost all charts. It not only makes your analysis more accurate but speeds up the process as well. The “Test” exercises also extend your experience into situations that possibly are infrequent in your normal work.

Aspects with minimum orbs in the above Chart are:
Node sextile Vertex, 0°07' S     Uranus opposite Fortuna, 0°10' A
Mars square MC, 0°44' S         Mars trine Pluto, 0°56' S

The dominant factor among these is Mars trine Pluto because of its strong position in the Chart and that it is an Aspect between planets, not between a planet and a Zodiacal point.

Mars rules the 8th House and Pluto rules surgery. Pluto in the 4th House signifies the breasts and Mars in the 12th signifies hospitals. Mars square the Floating MC, indicates an interruption of life’s activities for surgical treatment.

Option No. 4, “She had an accident in her new car”, has some claim to consideration but is ruled out by the lack of supporting factors, principally Aspects with small orbs.

There were 26 answers emailed to me and thirteen were correct – 50%! The highest score so far. Was the Test Question too easy, or have the answering techniques improved? Probably a mixture of both. In any event it was a good result and should encourage all those who regularly participate.

In Natal, Mars Lord V/XII in IV can give fire in home or expenditure for House or car, accident in car and surgery/chronic disease in breast.
Moon is aspected by Rahu that can give chronic disease in breast and also problem in home or in emotion/mind.
Venus in As can give importance in vehicle and beautiful things and also problem about health and accident ( Lord VI) and deception, lost in desires and their realization (Lord XI) because Venus conjoins Rahu.

In transit, Rahu close cusp 4 (where is Mars N) aspect cusp 8 (where is Mars T in debilitation and Saturn T ), cusps 10 and 12.
Saturn T conjunct Mars T and aspecting Venus T conjunct cusp V (moolatrikona of Mars) that can give difficulty, accident, surgery. Moon Lord VIII transit in IX and Sun Lord IX transit in VI can give an event in relation to vitality.
Jupiter ( Lord AS /IV N) is aspected by Mars N and near Mars T
Jupiter T in Libra in XI under influence of Kethu N and Mars T and Venus T aspect cusp XI So maybe she had surgery for breast cancer.

Mars, Ruler of the 8th trine Pluto, indicating an operation.
Looking further: Sun, Ruler of the 12th conjunct Mars. Moon/Pluto conjunction in Capricorn might be an indication for breast cancer.

According to the Age-Harmonic Chart the woman had surgery for breast cancer. Venus (the breasts) opposite South Node in Cancer! And Pluto trine Mars (8) in 12!

Lunar Quotidian Chart established for the birth place and for 1st June 2006, local time 10h28 pm (UT 8h28 pm),
The Moon in the 8th is the dispositor of Mars, ruling the 4th and the 11th, and Mars which disposits Jupiter, Ruler the 12th and the ASC.
4th House = the Moon = the breasts,
8th House = surgery,
11th House = 8th of 4th
12th = hospital,
Asc = the body.

Pluto (cancer diseases) is in the Natal 8th House together with the Moon - serious precondition for a breast cancer. By the time of the event Pluto Directed by Solar-Arc to17Li06 opposed Natal Mars at 17Ar08 (surgery).

As per vimshotari dasa, she is running Rahu maha dasa and Saturn antara which has connection to the House of surgery.
So I opt for the event: She had surgery for breast cancer.


Francois Carriere (Quebec).
By Primary Directions, Venus is Indicator and Saturn participator (Ibn Ezra terminology). In the Solar Return, Saturn rules the 8th House and aspects the Sun both in Return and Radix, where the Sun rules the 8th House. The Moon is also located in the 12th House of the Solar Return, while Mercury its Lord is still joined to the Sun. On the Solar Quotidian, Jupiter is the most angular planet and is Almuten of the 12th House. I have good reasons to believe she unfortunately underwent a breast cancer surgery.

The Age-Harmonic Chart points to a compassionate communication, also a physician (Jupiter 6 House, Fishes, Mercury in Sagittarius), and Sun-Mars in Virgo 12th House (hospital) to 120° of Moon-Pluto in Capricorn in the 4th House.

Reasons:
Rectified time of birth comes to 05 44 55 which satisfies all the necessary conditions for a perfect Ascendant as explained by Mr S P Khullar in his Book "Your True Horoscope".
Native was running Rahu-Saturn-Venus-Rahu-Moon on 2.6.2006. Ascendant Sub Sub Lord Venus is in the Star of Ketu Sub of Ju and in Sub Sub of Rahu. Venus involves Ascendant and 4th House through its Star Ketu and commit to 8th House through its Sub Lord Jupiter. According to Khullar's Cuspal Inter Link Theory using Sub Sub Lord, for a native to get serious disease like breast cancer, Ascendant should be Significator of 6/8/12 -4 which exists as explained above. 4th Sub Sub Lord should involve Ascendant and commit to 8 and 8th SSL should involve Ascendant and commit to 4. All the essential condition of inter linkage of Ascendant , 4th House (breast) and 8th House (serious disease) along with Dasa and transit potential exists in the Horoscope of the native.


K B Jain (India).
She had surgery for breast cancer.
On the event date, she was running Rahu-Sat-Ve-Ra-Sun/Moon. All the planets are strong Significators of 1-4-8. Further, on the day of Surgery Sun was transiting on Venus Sign Moon Star. In this case, Venus is the Antara Lord and Moon is the Prana and both are Significators of operation on the breast. Moon is transiting in Sun Sign and Sun is the Significator of 1-4-8. Moon star on the day of operation is Ketu which is again Significator of 1-4-8.

Using vedic astrology with the tropical zodiac and using rasi aspects: She was in the Rahu-Mercury-Saturn-Rahu-Mars dasa
Rahu: significator for sudden events; rasi aspect to the 8th House of operation. Rasi aspect to the 11th = the 6th from the 6th.
Rahu in Capricorn: Saturn as significator for illness, in the 11th House = the 6th from the 6th. Mercury: Lord of the 6th of disease. Rasi aspect to the 4th House of breasts, with Mars, significator of operations in the 4th.
Saturn: significator of illness etc.
Mars: significator of operations, in the 4th of breasts.
The varga D30 also points in this direction.


Shirley Gray (Michigan USA).
My answer is: Surgery.
In the Age-Harmonic Chart for June 2, 2006, Saturn on the Illness Cusp is opposite the midpoint of Uranus and Mars ruling the 6th and 8th houses, signifying surgery.
