Fun,  Fitness & Friendship

Tiny Tots classes:  A delightful and continually varied program for 2,3 & 4 year olds, where coordination and musicality is explored and developed.  In these classes students will cover Ballet and jazz.  Students learn the “Magic of Dance” through mime, music and movement.  Benefits include social interaction, improved motor skills and an understanding of pattern and direction.

Classical Ballet:  Dance unlimited teaches the Royal Academy of Dancing Syllabus.  (RAD Have become the world’s largest examining and training body).  RAD syllabus covers Ballet, Free Movement and national character.  Ballet is fun, expressive and musical.  Classical Ballet develops fine motor skills, fitness, posture and flexibility, and promotes self-discipline, poise and confidence.  NB Any students who will be going on to pointe this year that are in intermediate Foundation (will be advised by Miss Tanya) will require an examination by Rhonda Gainsford at Mudgee Physio.

Pre primary - 5 to 9 yrs

Grade 1   - 7yrs

Grade 3  -  9yrs

Grade 4  - 10yrs

Grade 5  - 11/12yrs

Intermediate foundation -  12/14yrs

Intermediate - 14/16yrs.

Contemporary/Modern:  Contemporary is especially creative, broad-based, abstract and expressive.  We incorporate yoga and pilates into our contemporary class content, which compliments classical ballet technique and develops awareness of the body and the way it works.

Junior Contemporary:  5 to 9yrs

Intermediate Contemporary:  12 to 12 yrs.

Senior Contemporary:  13yrs and over.

Jazz:  Funky Jazz us a very “up-beat” and modern way of moving.  This style of dance is primarily what we see in music video clips.  These classes are very progressive and structured. Jazz is a very popular style and a great way to become coordinated and fit.

Boys Classes:  A boys only class of mixed ages which includes some Hip Hop and Break Dancing moves.

Hip  Hop:   Hip Hop is a free form of dance derived from Jazz.  Hip Hop combines street dance with the latest musical influences on the charts.  Hip Hop is the dance style most commonly associated with video clips.

Junior Hip Hop  -  4 - 9 yrs

Intermediated Hip Hop  -  10yrs to Snr.

TAP:   We teach the “Les Griffith Tap Dancing Association” Syllabus, which was developed in Newcastle.  L.G.T.D.A.  Is the syllabus studied by Dean Perry from “Tap Dogs”.  Other stars as seen in the hit movie “Bootmen” also studied this syllabus.  Tap develops a finely tuned sense of rhythm, and is also great fun.

Performance & Eisteddfods:

Group routines:  There is a performance group for each style of dance (Ballet, Modern, Jazz and Tap) for each age group: 8yrs and under (including 4,5,6,7 & 8yrs) 10yrs/12yrs, & 14yrs/Senior.  These group dances will rehearse during a ½ hour class for each age group and style of dance during Term 1.

NB  Students must do their normal class as well to be eligible to be part of the performance groups i.e.

Modern Performance: You need to do a contemporary or Ballet class

Ballet Performance: You need to do a Ballet class.

Jazz Performance:  You need to do a Jazz Class

These lessons cease once the groups have completed in the Gulgong Eisteddfod - which is normally in May.  Some of the performance Groups will perform at the Mudgee Show and will also have numerous other opportunities to perform at local events throughout the year.

You will need to purchase a costume, - some costumes may be used from previous dances.

This will not only require great and total commitment by students to attend lessons, extra rehearsals, and to practice at home, but also the commitment by parents to ensure that this does happen as we need costuming and routines to be at a competitive level.

Age group for Performance Groups are based on the age you are on the first day of the Gulgong Eisteddfod.  The only way you have an opportunity to dance in the Performance Group above your age as well as your usual group is if your are invited by Miss Tanya!

Solo,  Duo  and  Trio  routines:

These are also available for interested dancers.  You must have a ½ hour private lesson each week..

All routines must be choreographed by a faculty member (or guest teacher) and all costumes must be approved by Miss Tanya.  NB  if you wish to practice your dances at the studio you need to let Miss Tanya know.  It is up to the individual how may eisteddfods you wish to compete in.

Entry information can be found at http://www.dancephoto.com.au

All new routines for 2009 will be taught in a 2hr block lesson with Miss Tanya or Kurt Williams, then ½ hour privates each week will be used to rehearse and perfect the routines.

Examinations:  We strongly encourage our students to participate in exams for Ballet and Tap.  Our exams are in September.  Exams give a student something to work towards and a definite sense of achievement - but of course, it is NOT compulsory.  Ballet exam students from Grade 1 and up must attend 2 ballet classes per week to prepare for the exam (commencing Term 2).  Pre-primary and Primary may also do exams but only 1 class per week is required.  Tap exam students will also need to attend 2 tap classes per week to prepare for the exam (commencing Term 2)

Our Teaching Program offers the following:

Dance Unlimited students “Flix in the Stix”  Mamma Mia

Concert: Our annual concert will be held at the end of each year and is a wonderful event in which every student gets to shine.

Winter Schools:  Dance Unlimited will be holding a Winter Dance School in the June/July holidays in 2009.  This is a fantastic opportunity for students of all abilities aged 4 to 18yrs to work with the best in the industry!  Professional dancers, performers, teachers, choreographers and examiners offer classes in Ballet RAD (great for any student considering a ballet exam!! ) Hip Hop/Jazz, contemporary/Lyrical, Tap and Repertoire.  You can take a class, do a day, or do the whole week- which concludes with a performance of works produced during the week.  Also there is a choreography competition held during the week.
