It was an honour to be chosen as coach of the 1999 Whiddon Cup team. Many of the players backed up from 1998 team. I was so happy to see the players bloom and believe in themselves as football players. This was seen in the results with Whiddon Cup winning six and drawing one match and finishing the highest placed next to the Kentwell Cup team. This has been the best result for a Whiddon Cup side for a very long time. The players are now very skilful, professional footballers who could play in any team. These results were achieved even though the third grade opposition had the biggest and meanest players of the day. My personal thanks to every player who played in the Whiddon Cup side for their attitude, discipline and their dedication both on and off the field.

However, I thought we would have gone a lot better if we played Friday afternoons, because Friday nights slowed a lot of the team down. Thanks go to the large number of Judd Cup players who stood by as reserves each week and took the field without hesitation.

A special thanks to team manager Ray 'Lucy' Bortilucci and Captain Ron White, without them the team wouldn't make it on the field each week. The dedication and commitment they put in is invaluable.

All goes well for Hunters Hill with a resurgence in all grades, this success is due to hard work and long hours put in by the first grade coach " E.T "

Football is a 'game'. A game that left me with much pride after coaching a terrific 1999 Whiddon Cup Team. To all the players in all the grades at Hunters Hill I say "Thank You".
