Melissa has been professionally singing in music theatre, concert and cabaret since 1991. She started teaching privately in 1993, then moved into VCE and schools in 1996 when she taught at Billanook College for 5 years. She then moved to Methodist Ladies College where she taught for 4 years, specialising in preparation for VCE Solo Singing for contemporary singers.
Melissa was co-founder and director of The Cabaret Showcases which ran from 2004 - 2007 at Capers Cabaret, which showcased new Australian talent.
Since 2005 she has been teaching privately from her studio in Oakleigh South. Styles include music theatre, contemporary, pop, R & B and jazz. She also specialises in audition preparation and repertoire.
Melissa’s main focus over the last few years though has been towards VCE, in contemporary vocal performance.
Melissa is also the Vocal Ensemble Director of Joining the Chorus, a Victorian Government funded project to encourage government school children to get involved with performing arts.
She has also taught at music theatre and dance schools, including Patrick Studios Australia, Dance World, Centre Stage Dance School, Christine Walsh Dance School, The Dance Factory and Tony Bartuccios.
Melissa's students have included Australian Idol finalists, students and graduates of WAAPA, VCA, BAPA and NIDA, VCE students, also cast members of many Australian music theatre productions.
Melissa's personal training has included being coached by Brian Stacey, Naomi Eyers, Gary May and David Ashton-Smith.
