Melissa Langton

Melissa has been performing since 1992 when she appeared in JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR - THE CONCERT (Harry M Miller/IMG).  Other music theatre credits include LES MISERABLES (Cameron Macintosh), the role of Killer Queen in WE WILL ROCK YOU (Louise Withers & Assoc.), MARRY ME A LITTLE, CRUSADE, LIFE BY DROWNING, MARTIN AND GINA, BRIGADOON, SIDESHOW ALLEY, AFTER THE BEEP, EUROBEAT and for The Production Company; CAROUSEL (Nettie Fowler), 42ND STREET (Maggie Jones), FOLLIES (Stella Deems), DAMN YANKEES (Gloria Thorpe) and CRAZY FOR YOU (Patricia Fodor).

She also regularly performs at corporate functions and has appeared with The Australian Pops Orchestra at the Melbourne Concert Hall.  She also is a regular soloist at HATS OFF in Melbourne.

Melissa is renowned for devising and performing her own cabaret shows including CAN YOU HEAR ME UP THE BACK???, I GOT THE MUSIC IN ME and WHAT'S NEW PUSSYCAT?  Her shows ME AND MR JONES and WHAT DO YOU THINK OF ME SO FAR??? were both presented in New York and Dublin.  ME AND MR JONES and A WALK ON THE WILD SIDE haVE also featured at The Adelaide Cabaret Festival, Sydney Cabaret Convention, the Auckland Festival, and The Famous Spiegeltent at the Melbourne Festival.  She recently returned to the Adelaide Cabaret Festival with EVERYBODY’S GOT SOMETHING TO HIDE (except for me and my monkey).

As a member of The Fabulous Singlettes, Melissa has performed in Germany, Italy, Austria, New Guinea and at corporate functions throughout Australia. The group also performed at The 1998 Melbourne International Comedy and the 2003 Adelaide Cabaret Festival.

In 1994, The Fabulous Singlettes, performed in Simon Gallaher’s production of THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE.   The Singlettes were nominated for a Green Room Award for their performance.  They then went on to tour Australia and New Zealand in THE MIKADO and HMS PINAFORE and were involved in recording a CD and video for all three productions.

Melissa received 2002 Green Room Awards for Best Cabaret Artist and Best Cabaret Ensemble (with Mark Jones).  Melissa was the winner of The 2001 Sydney Cabaret Convention.

Libby O’Donovan

Hailed by the Sydney Morning Herald as “a powerful, sassy performer”, Libby O’Donovan has performed for over ten years across Australia and around the world.

Her achievements include performances in Tokyo, New York City and Canada with various jazz and Cabaret acts including her award winning solo show The Story of Meredith Crocksley, ARIA nominated vocal outfit Coco’s Lunch and her co-creations, Flat on your Bacharach and Women with Standards, for which she won a Green room award for her work as Musical Director.

Libby has starred as a cabaret and jazz performer in several major festivals including the Edinburgh Fringe, Sydney Spring Festival, Perth International Arts Festival, the International Jazz Educators Convention, Adelaide Cabaret Festival (including working with New York’s Jason Robert-Brown and Andrew Lippa), Melbourne Fringe, Adelaide Fringe, and the Wangaratta Jazz Festival. Her theatre credits include Matthew Robinson’s Metro Street Doppio Parallelo’s DJ Squat, Contaminations Lab and The Last Child, Vitalstatistix’s Way Dead Cool and Patch Theatre Company’s Sharon Keep Ya Hair On!

Libby continues to perform Australia-wide as well as fulfilling her commitments as a composer, arranger and musical director.

Mark Jones

Mark’s credits as a singer/actor include “The Beautiful Losers”(The Butterfly Club, The Melbourne Comedy Festival, The Adelaide Cabaret Festival),“Eurobeat” (South Korean Tour), Goodbye Vaudeville Charlie Mudd(The Malthouse Theatre), “Me  & Mr Jones” (Adelaide Cabaret Festival, The Famous Spiegeltent, The New York Cabaret Convention), “Three Weill Men” (Chapel Off Chapel, Adelaide Cabaret Festival, The Famous Spiegeltent),  “Rosa Waxes Lyrical” (The Edinburgh Fringe Festival, The Melbourne Comedy Festival) “Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris” (Chapel off Chapel, Anthill),  “The Magic Faraway Tree” (The Victorian Arts Centre), “Elegies” (The Athenaeum Theatre), “The Tales of Peter Rabbit” (National Tour). Mark was also a member of the popular vocal/comedy group “The Phones”.

Mark has musically directed productions of “What’s a Girl To Do?” (Malthouse  Theatre), “I Love You, You’re Perfect Now Change!” (The Athenaeum Theatre), “The Fabulous Singlettes” (The Melbourne Comedy Festival), “Company” (VCA), “Confidentially Yours” (Malthouse Theatre), “Happy End” (VCA) and is the resident musical director for Garry Ginivan Attractions.

He has won Victorian Green Room Awards for The Beautiful Losers - Best Cabaret Ensemble 2007 & 2006, Me And Mr Jones Best Cabaret Ensemble 2003 (with Melissa Langton), Three Weill Men – Best Musical Direction of a Cabaret 2002 and  Jacques Brel is Alive And Well And Living In Paris - Best Cabaret 2000.

In 2009 he was nominated for a Helpmann Award for Best Supporting Actor in a play for “Goodbye Vaudeville Charlie Mudd” (The Malthouse Theatre)

He can be heard on two original cast recordings - “Three Weill Men” and “Jacques Brel – the songs of.....” and also produced and arranged Melissa Langton’s CD “When the Rain Falls Up”.

As an accompanist he has played for many of Australia's most popular cabaret performers including: Judi Connelli, John O’May, Marina Prior, Toni Lamond, Suzanne Johnston, Melissa Langton, and Silvie Paladino.

In 2008 Mark wrote the music for the Lally Katz/Chris Kohn musical play “ Goodbye Vaudeville, Charlie Mudd”. Mark also co-wrote the book, music and lyrics, with Craig Christie, for “After The Beep” – an original musical which was premiered at Chapel Off Chapel in 2003 and received a Green Room Award Nomination for Best Original Australian Musical.

Mark has written the music for three popular family musicals:“Pinocchio – The Greatest Little Show on Earth” (The Melbourne Concert Hall, National Tour), “The Tales of Peter Rabbit” ( The Victorian Arts Centre, National Tour) and NODDY – A Toyland Musical (National Tour) all in Collaboration with Garry Ginivan.

Mark has lectured in singing at the VCA  School of Drama from 1995-2008
