Alcohol Intake Questionnaire
Answer the following 10 questions to assess the potential harm of your alcohol intake.

Question 2.
How many standard drinks do you have on a typical day when you are drinking?

A standard drink is: 
a middy (10 oz) of normal beer, or
one glass of wine, or
a nip (30mls) spirits, or
2 middies of light beer

7 or more standard drinks.

3 or 4 standard drinks.

Question 3.
How often do you have 6 or more standard drinks on one occasion?

Your score explained.

Females with a score of 5 or less, or
Males with a score of 6 or less

You don't appear to be drinking too much and you don't appear to be physically dependent on alcohol. 

Females with a score of 6 or more but less than 13, or
Males with a score of 7 or more but less than 13

Your answers indicate that you are drinking too much or you have previously had problems with drinking, such as binge drinking.  However, you are unlikely to be physically dependent on alcohol.  Nevertheless, you are well advised to cut down on your drinking.

Males or Females with a score of 13 or more

You have problems with drinking.  You are also likely to be physically dependent on alcohol.    You have signs of physical dependency on alcohol.  You are best advised to stop drinking altogether forever.  You should also have a thorough physical examination by your doctor including blood tests.
