About the Fish

The fish is perhaps the world's oldest acronym.

ICHTHUS, the Greek word for fish, was adopted by the early Christian Church as an acronym for the phrase Iesus Christos Theou Uios Soter: Jesus Christ, God's Son, Saviour.

This phrase summarises the essentials of the Christian Faith, and the stylised outline of the fish has been used as a symbol of Christianity for almost two thousand years.

My personal Christian beliefs are described in detail in:

Other Christian resources can also be found on the WWW, as can many writings of the Church Fathers and of course the Bible: in English, or Greek, or the parallel English/Greek/Hebrew Bible. A few essays of mine are out there too.

Each minute of every day a child becomes blind. That's more than half a million children each year. Please consider supporting Christian Blind Mission International as they work to help prevent and cure blindness around the world.
