Thomas Ravenscroft (1590-1633)
Many of these composers were associated with the Chapel Royal and Westminster Abbey, which were centres of development of English music for several centuries. Gibbons, Blow, Purcell, Croft and Cooke all held the position of organist at the Abbey at various times.
