|
What is ADR?
Believe it or not there are alternatives to Courts for resolving disputes.

Some ADR sites
Some books on ADR and negotiation I have found helpful
- Aboriginal Dispute Resolution by Larissa Behrendt, Federation Press,
Sydney, 1995 (a
brief insight and some suggestions for change)
- Body Language - How to read others' thoughts by their gestures
by Allan Pease, Camel Publishing Company, Sydney, 1992
(a practical little book, with handy illustrations)
- Dispute Resolution in Australia by Astor and Chinkin, Butterworths,
Sydney, 1992
(a very detailed look at the various alternatives, advantages and
disadvantages - recommended because it is not starry-eyed and
considers shortfalls in some of the processes)
- Dispute Resolution - Negotiation, Mediation and Other Processes Goldberg,
Sander and Rogers, 2nd Ed., Little Brown and Company,
Boston, 1992 (a good American text book on various processes)
- Getting to Yes - Negotiating an agreement without giving in by Fisher,
Ury and Patton, 2nd Ed., Random Century Australia, 1994
(a product of the Harvard Negotiation Project - a must read)
- The Legal Negotiator - A Handbook for Managing Negotiations More
Effectively by Hawkins, Hudson and Cornell, Longman Professional,
Melbourne 1993 (very detailed checklist approach to negotiation)
- The Mediation Process - Practical Strategies for Resolving Conflict by
Christopher W.
Moore, Jossey-Bass Inc., San Francisco, 1986 (a great American text book on the subject)
- The Mediator's Handbook by Ruth Charlton and Micheline Dewdney, Law
Book
Company, Sydney, 1995 (not a long book but full of practical points)
- Negotiation Skills by Baden Eunson, John Wiley & Son, Brisbane, 1994 (a
readable text with a good list tactics)
