I've been half expecting this day to
arrive for a while. The day where the Australian tour dates are
altered. Some of you will be pleased by this adjustment, while others
will be annoyed... but I guess it is fair to say that this is more like
the dates we were probably expecting... the dates that seemed most
logical and normal for international rock artists playing our
shores.
The email came in from Mötley's
touring department in Hollywood yesterday:
"We have revised the Australian
itinerary as follows:
11/22 Off
11/23 Brisbane, Entertainment
Centre
11/24 Off
11/25 Melbourne, Melbourne Park
11/26 Sydney, Entertainment Centre
Note that Canberra, Wollongong and Newcastle are no longer, Brisbane
added."
I then contacted the promoters to
obtain an official statement that details ticket policies (because I
knew that would be your first concern of course!) I just got this
release through this afternoon. Here it is for you, word for word:
“Mötley Crüe
adds Brisbane Show – Rose Tattoo named as support”
Last week
Mötley Crüe announced that Hole Drummer Samantha Maloney would continue
handling drumming responsibilities for the Crüe on their November "New
Tattoo" Japanese/Australian Tour, as regular drummer Randy Castillo
takes a hiatus due to health reasons.
Due to the
change in the line up the Australian tour time period has been
changed. The touring schedule is November:
Brisbane
Entertainment Centre - NEW SHOW - Thursday 23
ON SALE FRIDAY 20 OCTOBER
Rod Laver
Arena, Melbourne Park - Saturday 25
Sydney
Entertainment Centre - DATE CHANGE - Sunday 26
The band
is really looking forward to the Australian tour, “We can not wait to
get down under, we wish we could stay for 2 weeks, but unfortunately
other commitments just don’t allow” Nikki Sixx
Rose Tattoo to support Australian
Tour
Rose
Tattoo has confirmed that they will support Mötley Crüe on their “New
Tattoo Tour” of Australia. Peter Wells, from Rose Tattoo said, “The
band is really excited to support the Crüe they are a great band and
these shows will certainly rock!”.
All ticket
holders for the cancelled shows, AIS Arena Canberra, Wollongong
Entertainment Centre and Newcastle Entertainment are asked to go to
their ticketing outlet to transfer their tickets to either Sydney,
Melbourne or Brisbane Shows, (or to obtain a refund).
All
tickets purchased for Tuesday 28 November Sydney Entertainment Centre
show will work for the changed date show of Sunday 26 November.
So there you are! Many of you will
now be needing to re-schedule flights, work out how to get to different
cities, and even re-organise time off from work, babysitters, etc. That
can be frustrating and a hassle, but Mötley are worth it of
course!
I guess some of you will be sighing
with more relief too, knowing that this adjustment has come, but the
tour is not being cancelled 100%. On with the show!
I'm glad those that put their hand up
to help out as a Street Team Member are receiving their materials, and
starting to make them visible. It seems those on the Tour Team are
getting Tour Posters, Temporary Crüe Tattoos, and a Hell On High
Heels single. Let's get these posters in the most visible places as
possible. Ask café owners if you can put one in the window, get
prominent positioning for the posters on the walls in your local record
stores, take some to pubs and clubs that play live music, etc. And
don't forget to save one for yourself as a souvenir of your hard work!
Bear in mind the street team goods from Americoma Records will take
longer to arrive, since they need to come from overseas instead.
And speaking of Americoma, I got an
email from Nikki Sixx recently, in response to my email where I sent
the label everyone's addresses for the Street Team. Nikki said, "THIS
IS JUST FANTASTIC NEWS......I WOULD LIKE TO TIE IN OUTLAW INTO IT
TOO......." so we will see what happens there!
