"40 million records
and going strong.
Never won a Grammy
Still won't play along in Hollywood, like we should"
Mötley Crüe
- Fake - 2000
Ever
wondered which Mötley Crüe album spent the most time in the
charts? Or perhaps youve had a bet with someone and are looking for the facts.
Search no more!
Here’s the official
Billboard® chart history for all Mötley Crüe albums, in chronological order. The official RIAA (Recording
Industry Association of America) album certification dates and levels have also been
included. The gold record award was first introduced in
1958. Currently, gold is awarded for 500,000 units sold, platinum for
1,000,000, and multi-platinum for 2,000,000+. These units are based on
shipments to retail accounts from the record label, not actual over the
counter sales
The Soundscan column shows actual over the counter sales
purchased by consumers in the United States (only!), and it's the
industry standard on which the Billboard charts are based. This system
came into effect towards the end of 1991, so items in this column are units sold since then.
Ten units for each album have also been added to allow for the small
stores that don't report to Soundscan yet.
You can also click Buy to purchase online,
as well as view Gigs supporting each album's release.
